In order to understand the issues around this conflict between Pakistan and India, we need to know who will benefit from this conflict. Who would encourage it, and who would be negatively impacted.

According to a scoop obtained by Axios, Senate Democrats were told in a blunt meeting on Wednesday about the urgent need to abandon their usual narrative on the border, focusing instead on reducing border crossings as well as increasing legal pathways to citizenship, reforming the asylum system and expanding access to humanitarian aid outside of the U.S.

They were briefed by Andrea Flores, a top staffer with the bipartisan FWD.us political organization, at their policy retreat in Virginia. 

The briefing criticized the Biden administration for not properly articulating their stance on immigration, a strategy that, according to Flores, ultimately helped Republicans.

A surprise victory by Pakistani Chinese  -made jet fighters in an air battle with Western-made Indian aircraft has triggered alarm in the global defense industry.

The opening of hostilities between India and Pakistan saw one of the largest air battles in modern history.

U.S. officials told Reuters that Chinese-made Pakistani J-10 aircraft shot down French-made Indian Rafale jets with Chinese PL-15 air-to-air missiles. 

The fact that its first combat deployment witnessed its triumph over its western equivalent is likely to serve as a major boost to the Chinese defense industry.

Human Traffic..

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Tuesday night that she will ask federal prosecutors to seek the death penalty against two Mexican nationals accused of human smuggling resulting in the deaths of at least three migrants.

Coast Guard authorities said in a statement that they received word of the overturned panga skiff around 6:30 a.m. EDT Monday off Del Mar Beach. 

Three people were found deceased and four others were located in need of medical attention. A search was launched for seven others sill missing that was called off that night.

Tanked..

The US is learning from the war in Ukraine that tanks will no longer be able to charge forward in combat like they used to because they're vulnerable to enemy attacks with cheap drones, the new Army secretary said.

The amount of sensors on the battlefield, the amount of ability from both sides to see what's going on" has created a situation in which Army commanders cannot push tanks "as far forward in the formation as you used to be able to because very cheap drones are able to take them out of any usefulness," he said.

"We have got to be a lot leaner," the secretary said.

Dog Fight..

Wednesday's military exchange between India and Pakistan in their respective controlled areas of Kashmir and the Pakistani province of Punjab reportedly included a "dog fight" between fighter jets of both nations, in which Pakistan claims they downed five Indian fighter jets.

The "dog fight' was the "largest and longest in recent aviation history," a senior Pakistani security source told CNN. An estimated 125 fighter jets engaged with each other in the air for over an hour, the source said, adding that missiles were being exchanged at distances of up to 160 kilometers (100 miles).
