Ebola...

A post by Breitbart News, a self-described conservative news website, links to an April 28 article written by the same organization. The article says "around 176,407 people in the U.S. died due to complications for COVID-19 during Biden's first 14 weeks" in office, a period ending April 28.

The article cites Johns Hopkins University data. But data from John Hopkins University and from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

From Jan. 20 to April 28, Biden's first 14 weeks in office, the CDC reported 156,096 new COVID-19 deaths. John Hopkins reported 160,540.

Harris Speech Earlier:

One of most egregiously misleading things Kamala Harris said during her first speech as Joe Biden’s running mate was to compare the outbreak of Ebola to the COVID-19 pandemic. “It didn’t have to be this way,” Harris claimed. “Six years ago, in fact, we had a different health crisis. It was called Ebola. And we all remember that pandemic. But you know what happened then? Barack Obama and Joe Biden did their job. Only two people in the United States died. Two. That is what is called leadership.”

Transmit...

The CDC chief Rochelle Walensky said earlier this week that “vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don’t get sick.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has walked back the claim made by its director that vaccinated people don’t carry the coronavirus.

Unaware that they are infected, vaccinated people are inadvertently infecting others, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Because of the virulence of the Delta variant, the unvaccinated can no longer count on protection from people who have gotten the shots.

Although daily case rates are rising in some highly vaccinated Bay Area counties, the overall case rate remains low here, so vaccinated people are less likely to be confronted by someone with the virus. That means they’re also less likely to become infected.

So they all can transmit the viruses and the non vaccinated young people should not be singled out for frequent testing. Just a thought.

Gottlieb...

Former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Scott Gottlieb predicted early Wednesday that the United States could get through the worst of the delta variant surge of the coronavirus in a few weeks.

"The bottom line is, the vaccine does not make you impervious to infection," Gottlieb said during an appearance. "There are some people who are developing mild and asymptomatic infections even after vaccination."

After acknowledging the delta variant of the coronavirus as "much more transmissible" than the first strain, Gottlieb questioned whether that fact should "translate into general guidance" on mask wearing and vaccine requirements in the United States.

"I don't think that's the case," he said. "I don't think we're going to get enough bang for our buck by telling vaccinated people they have to wear masks at all times to make it worth our while. I think we're further into this delta wave than we're picking up. I think in another two or three weeks we'll be through this."

Flavonoids...

Eating a plate full of colorful foods like strawberries and peppers, which include flavonoids, could slow your cognitive decline, a new study found.

Flavonoids are a series of compounds with strong antioxidant abilities that are commonly found in many fruits and vegetables, said study author Dr. Walter Willett, professor of epidemiology and nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Damage to the "blood supply to the brain is an important contributor to cognitive decline," said Willett, adding that the anti-inflammatory properties of flavonoids help protect that blood supply, which in turn slows down the cognitive decline.

The study spanned nearly a quarter of a century and had about 75,000 participants. The average age of the participants at the start of the study was 50, and they are now in their 70s and 80s, Willett said.

Additionally, eating flavonoids only plays a small role in potentially slowing down cognitive decline.

People should live a healthy lifestyle as well which includes regular physically activity and not smoking.

Plasticity...

Exercise can freshen and renovate the white matter in our brains, potentially improving our ability to think and remember as we age, according to a new study of walking, dancing and brain health.

It shows that white matter, which connects and supports the cells in our brains, remodels itself when people become more physically active. In those who remain sedentary, on the other hand, white matter tends to fray and shrink.

The idea that adult brains can be malleable is a fairly recent finding, in scientific terms.

But science advanced, thankfully. Complex studies using specialised dyes to identify newborn cells indicated that some parts of our brains create neurons deep into adulthood, a process known as neurogenesis. Follow-up studies then established that exercise amplifies neurogenesis.

When rodents run, for example, they pump out three or four times as many new brain cells as inactive animals, while in people, beginning a program of regular exercise leads to greater brain volume. In essence, this research shows, our brains retain lifelong plasticity, changing as we do, including in response to how we exercise

The Biden administration is planning to speed up deportations for some migrant families who cross the US-Mexico border, the Department of Homeland Security said.

Certain families will now be subject to the fast-track deportation procedure known as "expedited removal," which allows immigration authorities to remove an individual without a hearing before an immigration judge. The procedure will apply to families who are not swiftly expelled under a pandemic-related border policy.

It's the latest indication of the Biden administration's wariness over migrants, including those seeking asylum, journeying to the US southern border. Asked about Vice President Kamala Harris' "don't come" message to migrants, President Joe Biden reiterated that "they should not come" during a CNN town hall last week, adding that the administration is trying to tackle the root causes of migration.

What we said earlier  is completely the opposite. Just a thought.

Happiness will never come to those who fail to appreciate what they already have."
— Buddha

You probably want to feel happier. To wake up each morning with a smile on your face, thoughts of gratitude on your mind, and a lightness in your step.

It sounds blissful. But, achieving happiness is not an actual place or trait—it’s a daily practice that leads you to experience positive feelings about yourself and the world around you.  Just a thought.

Cognitive...

Rep. Ronny Jackson, the former White House physician-turned-congressman, says he’s "terrified for our country" in the wake of President Joe Biden’s televised town hall this week — and doubts whether the commander in chief has the cognitive ability to make it through a full term.

"He’s completely LOST it!" Jackson, R-Texas, tweeted Saturday, along with a video clip in which Biden answers a reporter’s question about defunding the police by claiming that Republicans accuse him of "sucking the blood out of kids."

"Needs a cognitive exam NOW!" Jackson posted.

Biden’s performance on CNN Wednesday night, widely mocked by conservatives on social media, he made false assertions about the efficacy of COVID vaccines, talked about helping children "find out whether there’s a man on the moon or whether those aliens are here or not" and confused some in the audience with references to obscure conspiracy theories.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle expressed outrage Friday at images of National Guard members, sent from around the country to secure the Capitol, resting and sleeping in nearby parking garages.

The National Guard could cut training as soon as July unless Congress passes emergency legislation reimbursing the cost of the Capitol security mission, Army leadership told a Senate Appropriations Committee subpanel Tuesday morning.

The four-month response to the Jan. 6 riots reportedly cost more than $500 million, depleting the Guard’s operational and training funds.

Army Secretary Christine Wormuthindicated that the force has already postponed some training and could begin cancelling training events as soon as July,

As long as you are protected and just see yourself with your great effort to disqualify the opposite party, the rest is "A parking Lot Accommodation type"  Just a thought.

Bottoms...

The Norwegian women’s beach handball team has been fined for refusing to play in bikini bottoms during a game in the sport’s Euro 2021 tournament.

The team wore thigh-length elastic shorts during their bronze medal match against Spain in Bulgaria on Sunday to protest against the regulation bikini-bottom design that the sport's Norwegian federation president called “embarrassing.”

The team was fined 1,500 euros total ($1,700) for “improper clothing,”

Since the London Olympics, female players could choose to wear shorts and sleeved tops, out of respect for countries with other norms and beliefs. But most players still serve the ball in bikini bottoms. And beach volleyball is not the only sport that's drawn criticism for its briefs.

Outrages decision. Just a thought.

The Lambda...

Cases of reinfection of COVID-19 have been reported but are rare. In general, reinfection means a person was infected (got sick) once, recovered, and then later became infected again.
Based on what we know from similar viruses, some reinfections are expected.

The delta variant, which is more than two times as transmissible as the original strain of the coronavirus, now accounts for 83% of new coronavirus cases in the United States.

Delta continues to be the central concern for public health officials.
The delta variant  it's not the only variant circulating in the population.

The lambda variant, first identified in Peru, is also making headlines as it has started to be identified in several states. Houston Methodist Hospital reported its first case of the variant this week.

Scientists at the Medical University of South Carolina recently announced they had found the variant in a virus sample taken in April.

Pfizer and BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine is just 39% effective in Israel where the delta variant is the dominant strain, but still provides strong protection against severe illness and hospitalization, according to a new report from the country's Health Ministry.

The efficacy figure, which is based on an unspecified number of people between June 20 and July 17, is down from an earlier estimate of 64% two weeks ago and conflicts with data out of the U.K. that found the shot was 88% effective against symptomatic disease caused by the variant.

However, the two-dose vaccine still works very well in preventing people from getting seriously sick, demonstrating 88% effectiveness against hospitalization and 91% effectiveness against severe illness, according to the Israeli data published.

"We have to be mindful that, with time, the effectiveness of these vaccines may wane," said Dr. Isaac Bogoch, an infectious disease professor at the University of Toronto.

Every day now we getting odd news about the vaccines. Just a thought.

Mandated..not..

The Biden administration is not mandating COVID-19 vaccines for White House staff, press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday.

During the White House press briefing Thursday, Psaki suggested that every White House official had been offered a COVID-19 vaccine, but clarified Friday that the White House was not requiring officials to be vaccinated.

No, we have not mandated it," Psaki responded, after being asked whether the administration was mandating White House staff receive a coronavirus vaccine.

As for those who have not been vaccinated, Psaki maintained the public health guidance remains the same for White House officials as for other Americans.

Gaslighting...

The term “gaslighting” has become a more entrenched cultural aspect of the American lexicon since 2016. Today, most people tend to use it in terms of politics. But gaslighting is applicable to and can be found in a wide array of cultural and social aspects.

Sexual gaslighting, for instance, is readily evident in many abusive relationships and toxic sexual encounters. Recognizing sexual gaslighting is vital for psychological and sexual well-being.

Essentially, gaslighting involves the psychological manipulation of another into questioning their sense of reality, refers to it as  “mind-manipulating strategies of abusive people”  particularly effective when “rooted in social inequalities, especially gender and sexuality, and executed in power-laden intimate relationships.”

Sexual gaslighting, therefore, is the psychological and abusive manipulation of another person for the purpose of getting them to question their reality around a sexual situation

Top to bottom...

The top administrator of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops resigned after cellphone data revealed that he was a frequent user of Grindr, the queer dating app, and regularly visited gay bars.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the organization announced that Monsignor Jeffrey Burill had resigned as its general secretary after the group learned of “impending media reports alleging possible improper behavior”.

Since last November, Burill has been the organization’s top administrator. As general secretary, he was in charge of coordinating all administrative work and planning for the conference, which is the country’s network for Catholic bishops.

As a priest, Burill is required to take a vow of celibacy.  Catholic teachings consider sexual activity outside of heterosexual marriage sinful.

Contrived...

CNN’s heavily promoted town hall event with President Biden lit up social media for all the wrong reasons as everything from crowd size to moderator Don Lemon’s performance was roasted.

Bloomberg News reporter Jennifer Epstein kicked things off by pointing out the tiny crowd. "CNN was very careful to not show that no one showed up for the Biden Town Hall and that most of the room was empty," radio host Mark Simone noted

The Bongino Report declared the event was a "train wreck," while Media Research Center president Brent Bozell called it "garbage."

National Review editor Jack Butler slammed the "contrived" CNN event that he feels is a far cry from the successful town hall events of the past. Saying the format should be abolished, he called it a "hideous spectacle unbecoming of a self-governing republic" that continues to get worse.

Predatory...

Pharma giant Pfizer

has begun pitching for a booster shot of the coronavirus vaccine saying the efficacy of its two-shot regimen declines after six months.

But in an implicit rebuke of the pushiness with which a third dose is being proposed, US agencies are saying a determination on this is yet to be made, science will dictate the process, and for now, a booster shot is not called for.

Pharma giants evoke deep suspicion among skeptics who feel they are predatory and opportunistic, and will use the pandemic to boost their profits. The coronavirus vaccine is expected to net Pfizer $ 26 billion in 2021 even at its current pricing of $ 19.50 a shot, and company executives have suggested the price ought to be much higher.

Some experts are arguing that two doses do the job quite effectively and a third dose may never be needed.

Do the children needs a vaccine or that is part of the predatory and opportunistic practice of Pfizer?  Just a thought.

Neutrogena...

Johnson & Johnson is recalling five of its Neutrogena and Aveeno aerosol sunscreen products due to low levels of benzene, a chemical that can cause cancer with repeated exposure.

On Wednesday, the company issued a statement announcing a voluntary recall and urged consumers to discard the products if they had already purchased them. The Neutrogena aerosol sunscreens that have been recalled are the Beach Defense, Cool Dry Sport Invisible Daily and Ultra Sheer varieties, in addition to Aveeno's Protect + Refresh spray sunscreen.

Johnson & Johnson stressed that the decision to pull the products was made "out of an abundance of caution," adding that the now-recalled aerosol sunscreens had been distributed nationwide.

"Based on exposure modeling and the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) framework, daily exposure to benzene in these aerosol sunscreen products at the levels detected in our testing would not be expected to cause adverse health consequences," the company said.

Mayor De Blasio has taken to regularly walking off the job  literally in the middle of his workday for meandering, sometimes hour-plus jaunts, generally in his old Brooklyn neighborhood, while the city remains in crisis, The Post has learned.

The mayor’s latest regimen of distractions — which comes after he temporarily swore off his well-documented Park Slope YMCA workouts when COVID-19 shut down all gyms — also includes morning constitutionals running into the start of his daily press briefings, according to city sources familiar with his routine.

Under the watchful eye of a security detail, he took a lap around Pier 17, earphones shutting out the world around him as he strolled.

De Blasio circled onto Fulton Street and took a phone call, as an onlooker who recognized his lanky, 6-foot-5 frame was overheard saying to a pal, “That was the mayor. He’s got nothing better to do.

De Blasio doesn't want people to drive.  Just a thought.

Maserati...

One man was killed, and another was taken to Brookdale Hospital in critical condition in a car crash early Saturday.

The vehicle was speeding past the corner of Atlantic and Rochester avenues in Brooklyn about 3:30 a.m when it jumped a curb and hit a concrete median and pole before flipping in the air and splitting in two. The Maserati then caught fire, cops said.

The driver died at the scene and a 35-year-old man believed to be a passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Investigators say speed likely played a factor.
The most damage is the one you do to yourself.   Just a thought.

Seriously...

President Joe Biden on Friday criticized social media platforms like Facebook for spreading misinformation about the coronavirus and vaccines, as his administration has blamed them for stalling U.S. vaccine rates.

"They’re killing people," Biden said when asked what his message was to social media platforms like Facebook on the spread of false and misleading claims about the virus and the safety of vaccines that prevent it.

"We will not be distracted by accusations which aren’t supported by the facts," said a Facebook spokesperson in a statement to Mashable that afternoon. "The fact is that more than 2 billion people have viewed authoritative information about COVID-19 and vaccines on Facebook, which is more than any other place on the internet."

"At a time when COVID-19 cases are rising in America, the Biden administration has chosen to blame a handful of American social media companies,"  "While social media plays an important role in society, it is clear that we need a whole of society approach to end this pandemic. And facts  not allegations should help inform that effort."
