The triple-murder trial of Lindsay Clancy ended in a mistrial on Friday, September 4, 2026, after the jury became hopelessly deadlocked. Following nearly six weeks of proceedings and roughly 38 hours of deliberations over seven days, the 12-person jury stated "with a heavy heart" that they could not reach a unanimous verdict. The deadlock was reportedly split 11 to 1, with a single holdout juror refusing to agree to an acquittal. 

The trial stemmed from the tragic January 2023 events in Duxbury, Massachusetts, where Clancy strangled her three young children—before jumping from a second-story window, an action that left her paralyzed. While the physical acts were not disputed, the trial focused heavily on her mental state:  

The Defense argued that Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder, rendering her legally insane and not criminally responsible for her actions. 

The Prosecution countered that the killings were calculated and intentional, highlighting that she sent her husband out on an errand beforehand and had never documented hearing commanding voices with clinicians prior to that day.
