Age

According to Japanese daily Nippon Times, the average life expectancy in Japan in 2019 was 87.45 years for women and 81.41 years for men.

The latest World Health Organization report in 2019 put Japan’s average life expectancy at birth at 83.7 years (86.8 years for women and 80.5 years for men).

The secret of long life in Japan is often considered as the combination of diet, policy, exercise, cultural factors and genetics - with no single cause running away with the credits.

Eat only until you are 80 per cent (8 out of 10 parts) full.

The Japanese serve smaller portions and encourage slower eating style.

Officials have developed a network of more than 100 walking routes to encourage people to exercise. Community groups and neighborhood associations organize communal walks not difficult in group-oriented Japan.

So start early. Just a thought.

Did it...

The United States reached a staggering milestone on Monday, surpassing 500,000 known coronavirus-related deaths in a pandemic that has lasted almost a year. The nation’s total virus toll is higher than in any other country in the world. It has far surpassed early predictions of loss by some federal experts. And it means that more Americans have died from Covid-19 than did on the battlefields of World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War combined.

In the early days of the pandemic, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the top infectious-disease expert in the country, and Dr. Deborah L. Birx, who was coordinating the coronavirus response at the time, projected last March that even with strict stay-at-home orders, the virus might kill as many as 240,000 Americans, a number that seemed unimaginable at the time.

What are the scientists saying and what is the Biden's plan other than Trump did it?

Long Covid...

Just a little more than a year into the pandemic, it's not clear how many Covid-19 patients go on to develop what's called long-term Covid, or long Covid. A recent study that included mostly people who had just mild cases found 30% were reporting symptoms as long as nine months after contracting the virus. Other studies have found a higher percentage.

The more than 100 symptoms reported by patients include fatigue, headaches, brain fog and memory loss, gastrointestinal problems, muscle aches and heart palpitations. Some have even developed diabetes.

The most common signs and symptoms that linger over time include:

  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cough
  • Joint pain
  • Chest pain

Other long-term signs and symptoms may include:

  • Muscle pain or headache
  • Fast or pounding heartbeat
  • Loss of smell or taste
  • Memory, concentration or sleep problems
  • Rash or hair loss.
So good luck with those who had the disease. Just a thought.

Move...

Singer Stevie Wonder is moving to Ghana.

The iconic, award-winning performer spoke to Oprah Winfrey in an interview explaining his decision, citing the political turmoil in the United States.

"I wanna see this nation smile again. And I want to see it before I leave to travel to move to Ghana because I'm going to do that.

Winfrey asked, "You're going to permanently move to Ghana?"

"I am," replied the singer." I don't want to see my children's children's children have to say, 'Oh please like me. Please respect me, please know that I am important, please value me.' What is that?"

This isn't the first time he has said he was considering moving to Ghana. In 1994, he said he felt there was "more of a sense of community" than in the US.

This has nothing to do with the presidency, or may be. Just a thought.

Genius...

Moderna said Monday it received "positive feedback" from the Food and Drug Administration on its proposal to increase the number of Covid-19 vaccine doses in each of its vials.

One vial of Moderna's two-shot vaccine contains ten doses, enough to inoculate five people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CNBC reported last month that Moderna had asked the FDA for permission to fill its Covid-19 vaccine vials with up to five additional doses to ease a bottleneck in manufacturing.

Of course the price will go up, and so is the delivery. Just a thought.

Empty...

Image result for empty calorie foods

Chaotic action is preferable to orderly inaction.

Empty Calorie Foods
Most empty-calorie foods are highly processed that contain added fat and sugar. [Cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, puddings, doughnuts, fries, jams, syrups, jelly, sweetened fruit drinks, breaded fried burgers and ice cream.]

If not used for physical activity, the extra calories are stored in the body as fat, and over time, result in weight gain and obesity.

Nutrient Dense Foods
Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat or fat-free milk and dairy products, nuts, beans, seeds, turkey, chicken, fish and lean cuts of meats. These foods provide fewer calories but are excellent sources of nutrients.

Gradually increase one and decrease the other until you reach a balanced level. This would lead to decrease, increase or maintain your weight depending on your Body Mass Index.

Highway Robbery...

Tolls on the MTA’s seven bridges and two tunnels are set to go up April 1, with the agency’s board unanimously approving an increase on Thursday.

Current toll rates will increase an average of 7.08 percent, the MTA said.

Tolls will increase from $6.12 to $6.55 for E-ZPass users on six crossings: the Bronx-Whitestone, Triboro, Throgs Necks and Verrazzano bridges and the Brooklyn-Battery and Queens-Midtown tunnels. Drivers without E-ZPass will be charged $10.17, up from $9.50 today.

On Upper Manhattan’s Henry Hudson Bridge, tolls will increase by 20 cents for E-ZPass users and 50 cents for everyone else. The Cross Bay and Marine Parkway bridges in Queens, meanwhile, will see tolls spiked from $2.29 for E-ZPass and $4.75 for everyone else to $2.45 and $5.09, respectively.

MTA officials opted to retain a discount for Queens residents for those two bridges, as well as the Verrazzano Bridge’s Staten Island rebate — which will now apply to all borough residents regardless of how many trips per month they take across the bridge.

At the same time, the MTA has created a middle-tier for toll collection: E-ZPass users whose devices are not affixed properly will be charged a “special rate” in between the regular and E-ZPass rates.

Democrats can't find a way to collect the last dollar in your pocket. By the time you pay the gas, car repair, Insurance, tunnells, and congestion pricing, you will be free from your money. Just a thought.

Second Term...

President Joe Biden said Friday that the U.S. and its international partners must hold China to account for its economic practices.

"We have to push back against the Chinese government's abuses and coercion that undercut the foundations of the international economic system," Biden said in a speech to the Munich Security Conference, delivered virtually from the White House.

The Trump administration sought to reshape the U.S.-China trade relationship, placing a key focus on boosting Beijing's purchase of U.S. goods while addressing issues including intellectual property protections and forced technology transfers.

After striking the first "phase" of a deal, Trump in 2020 canceled an additional round of trade talks with China, on which he has placed full blame for the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Is Biden doing Trump's second term?... Just a thought.
