Truth..

The Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos in an op-ed published Monday evening defended the newspaper’s recent controversial decision not to endorse a candidate in the presidential election as a “meaningful step in the right direction” to reverse the loss of trust in the media by Americans.

But Bezos also wrote, “I wish we had made the change earlier than we did, in a moment further from the election and the emotions around it.”

The op-ed — with the headline “The hard truth: Americans don’t trust the news media — was published hours after NPR reported that The Washington Post had lost more than 200,000 digital subscribers since Friday’s announcement by CEO Will Lewis that the newspaper would no longer endorse presidential candidates. Three members of the paper’s editorial board have resigned from that panel, while retaining their staff roles at the Post, because of that decision.

Rally..

Madison Square Garden..... Donald J. Trump 10/27/24 Rally- New York City.

Energized..

Nearly twenty thousand MAGA die-hards flooded Madison Square Garden for a sold out rally for former President Donald Trump in New York City.

Tens of thousands of people were turned away as the arena reached capacity, with scores of Trump supporters spilling into nearby bars to watch the rally.

The rally featured multiple celebrity appearances including Hulk Hogan, Elon Musk, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Tucker Carlson. Former first lady Melania Trump introduced her husband to the roaring crowd.

“It was such a statement to hold this major event in such a liberal city, and for it to be so packed – this guy has balls. This is my president. After tonight I have no doubt, he’s going to win,” Judah Klein, 27, of Midwood, Brooklyn said.

Trump supporters poured out of Madison Square Garden Sunday night, raving about the “star-studded” guest line-up and the former president’s candor.

“I think that he energized New York, and when you come to Madison Square Garden, and not only is it full but there’s tens of thousands of people outside that can’t even get into the arena and thousands of people lining the streets, I think it bodes very well for the election,” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman added.

Top Democrats, including those inside working on Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign and in President Joe Biden’s administration, reportedly believe Harris “will lose” the fast-approaching election and “are already starting to point fingers.”

Top Democrats are starting to point fingers at who’d be more responsible for a Harris loss — President Biden for dragging his feet, or Harris herself,” report Allen and VandeHei, contrasting the dour mood on the left with how “top Republicans, in private conversations, seem shockingly confident.”

Their report comes on the heels of an NBC News story in which a “senior” Harris campaign official acknowledged that “there has been a thought that maybe Michigan or Wisconsin will fall off,” and that North Carolina, once thought of as a prime pickup opportunity for Democrats, appeared to be “slipping away.”   Just a thought.

Mint..

A recent study found something strange: When mice with Alzheimer's disease inhale menthol, their cognitive abilities improve.

It seems the chemical compound can stop some of the damage done to the brain that's usually associated with the disease.

We have focused on the olfactory system's role in the immune and central nervous systems, and we have confirmed that menthol is an immunostimulatory odor in animal models," said immunologist Juan José Lasarte from the Center for Applied Medical Research (CIMA) in Spain when the results were released.

"But, surprisingly, we observed that short exposures to this substance for six months prevented cognitive decline in the mice with Alzheimer's and also improved the cognitive ability of healthy young mice."
