Abolishing..

 


The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is facing a sharp political backlash after a July 2026 television interview where National Co-Chair Megan Romer reaffirmed the organization's far-reaching platform goals.  
During the interview, leadership reiterated long-term objectives that triggered widespread debate: 
  • Abolishing the U.S. Senate and national borders.
  • Replacing the presidency and the Supreme Court.
  • Defunding the Pentagon, abolishing ICE, and ending traditional prisons.
  • Transferring ownership of large corporations to the government.
  • Promoting universal healthcare and a 32-hour work week. 
Centrist Democrats: Mainstream party strategists—including James Carville and former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel—publicly warned that close association with the DSA harms Democratic electability outside heavy progressive enclaves.
