Influx..

As a major European economic power, France has long been a country of immigration, and the arrival of newcomers especially from less developed countries has been central to its political debate for many years.

The economic and social effects of immigration have been sources of contention since the end of the 19th century, and the debate has intensified since the 1970s, amid an economic slowdown, and higher unemployment.

The far-right parties such as Le Pen’s National Rally, immigration represents a threat to French identity and security, as well as a huge economic and social cost, to which the government should respond by closing its borders.

Although the voices of the Le Pens and others, the language and policies embraced by more centrist politicians has also gradually evolved to view immigration with greater skepticism.    Just a thought.

No Fossil Fuel, Kiddo

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and party platforms faced fierce pushback from climate activists after backing away from or temporarily dropping language on eliminating fossil fuel subsidies—labeling initial proposals errors or adjusting positions to account for labor concerns (such as job losses in traditional energy sectors).
Tensions grew between progressive wings demanding a rapid 100% renewable shift and labor unions worried that aggressive fossil fuel bans would destroy millions of high-paying jobs without equivalent union-backed clean energy alternatives.
Following subsequent election outcomes and heightened voter sensitivity to inflation, energy prices, and the high economic cost of living, many Democrats began rethinking their public messaging. Rather than running on aggressive fossil fuel bans or phase-outs, the party increasingly pivoted toward an "all-of-the-above" energy approach focused on lowering utility bills and consumer costs.
