City students were left stranded on snow-stuck school buses late into the night Thursday — such as special-needs student George Jordan who spent seven hours on a bus home to the Bronx — after the day’s small storm clogged streets and caused havoc across New York.
The Department of Education said on Twitter that there were still buses with kids heading home out on the roads after 11 p.m. There were reports that other special-education students were stuck on buses after midnight.
“Working with @NYCMayor and @NYPDnews to get bus with special education children home in the Bronx from Manhattan,” city councilman Ben Kallos said on Twitter at 12:30 a.m. “Children remain in transit for more than 10 hours without a bathroom or food.”
About six inches of snow paralyzed the city on Thursday evening, backing up traffic across the boroughs for hours as city streets went unplowed and tree limbs were downed.
