We all like to think of yogurt as a healthy breakfast, but as it turns out, many of the most popular yogurt brands have more sugar than a junk food you’d never consider eating.
The average fruit-flavored yogurt can contain close to 32 grams of sugar per 6-ounce serving. The nutrition labels don't reveal how much of that is added sugar.
The American Heart Association recommends women consume fewer than 6 teaspoons of sugar per day [24 Gms] and that men have no more than 9 teaspoons a day [36 Gms]. Yogurt labels show sugar content in grams.
This means that the average 6-ounce serving of fruit-flavored yogurt already exceeds the daily limit for women and comes close to the daily limit for men. That is before having coffee, cookies, food etc.
While you think you doing good for your health, watch for the sugar. It can create more issues than just the calories.
Adjust accordingly if you want to stay slim, lose weight, and stay healthy. Just a thought.
