Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz took a victory lap on X Tuesday after he was declared the winner over a democratic socialist challenger in Florida's congressional primary, sending mocking "condolences" to Hasan Piker, a far-left streamer who backed Moskowitz's opponent.

Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)-backed Oliver Larkin lost to the more moderate Moskowitz in the Democratic primary in Florida's 25th District, The Associated Press reported.

The heavily redrawn congressional swing district is among roughly two dozen House seats that will likely determine whether Republicans hold on to their majority in the midterm elections.

"Democrats shouldn’t play hide the Piker now," Moskowitz said after his victory, according to Politico Playbook. "For all those people who thought it was a great idea to campaign with him, as Jay-Z once said, ‘Bring ’em out, bring ’em out.’ They shouldn’t be hiding him now."

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has opened a substantial early lead over California Gov. Gavin Newsom and New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in a new Rasmussen Reports poll.

 The survey found that Harris received 37% support, compared with 14% for Newsom and 9% for Ocasio-Cortez, giving her a 23-point advantage over her closest tested rival. The result strengthens Harris’ position in this particular survey, although the 2028 field remains unsettled and no major Democrat has formally entered the race.

Ocasio-Cortez’s 9% support marks a decline from the 11% she received in May. Her slide comes while democratic socialism remains a prominent force in parts of the party. However, Syracuse University political science professor Grant Davis Reeher cautioned against reading too much into one early survey.

 “It is interesting that AOC has fallen, given the rising star of democratic socialism in Democratic primaries. Maybe there is some buyer’s remorse that’s being reflected in that poll. It’s still very early, and my hunch remains that Kamala Harris’ support is soft (although she has a core of staunch supporters),” Reeher said.

U.S. Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) stated that "socialism" should be an unacceptable label within the Democratic Party, arguing instead that Democrats should embrace capitalism.  

 Fetterman criticized the left flank of the Democratic Party and rejected the platform of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), calling their movement "extremist" and an "orgy of socialism". 

 He expressed concern that embracing socialist policies and anti-Israel stances within parts of the progressive wing creates a severe political liability for competitive races in upcoming midterm elections.  

 Fetterman emphasized that it is the responsibility of party members to "police their own ranks" and call out views they find unacceptable.

White House Senior Advisor to the President and Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk departs the U.S. Capitol Building on March 5, 2025 in Washington, DC. Musk was meeting with Republican senators at a closed door lunch.  

Elon Musk continues to attack Zohran Mamdani amid his latest announcement about a price plan for city-owned grocery stores in New York.

The SpaceX CEO took to his own social media platform, X, to share a video of the New York City mayor discussing how free, taxpayer-funded, city-run grocery stores would now require IDs to curb reselling.

"Oh, the irony is too much …" Musk penned. "What they’re doing won’t matter. AI & robots will actually deliver the free goods & services that those thieves pretend to offer, while actually stealing from others. Mamdani is a thief and a liar, plain and simple," he said in another post.

 He responded that the RFP (Request for Proposal) is succinct about the program being a way for New Yorkers to be able to afford food, not for people to make "a quick buck" by reselling. He yielded the floor to EDC head Jean Pak, who then explained that the RFP ensures that it targets New Yorkers, be it at "sort of a library-card-esque system," and also who will be purchasing.
