Dr. Anthony Fauci’s former senior adviser, Dr. David Morens, was indicted on federal charges for allegedly using a personal Gmail account to hide COVID-19 research communications and evade public records laws. Dr. Morens was indicted on counts including obstruction of justice and conspiracy.
Prosecutors state he intentionally circumvented the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by moving government-related discussions to personal email.
Investigators highlighted emails where Morens wrote that he used Gmail because his National Institutes of Health (NIH) email was constantly FOIA-requested.
According to reporting by PBS News, the charges allege he concealed or destroyed records tied to COVID-19 origins and research grants.
