Liability..

House minority leader Hakeem Jeffries has endorsed Zohran Mamdani for New York City mayor.

Jeffries released a statement on Friday to the New York Times saying Mamdani has "relentlessly focused on addressing the affordability crisis and explicitly committed to being a mayor for all New Yorkers, including those who do not support his candidacy
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and other senior Democratic officials in New York have already expressed support for Mamdani.

State Democratic Party Chair Jay Jacobs previously said he will not endorse Mamdani.
Senate minority leader Charles Schumer has not yet endorsed anyone.
Analysts say Mamdani's progressive stances could be a liability for some in the Democratic Party.

Suspect..

Responding to a New York Times report Saturday revealing that the Trump administration “decided to repatriate two survivors of a deadly U.S. strike on suspected drug runners in the Caribbean Sea rather than prosecute or hold them in military detention,” U.S.

Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) tagged Vice President JD Vance and wrote: “So we are either letting captured cartel members go free or bombing innocent people. Which one is it, JDVance?”

The U.S. Senate subsequently voted against a resolution aimed at preventing the U.S. military from continuing strikes in the Caribbean without congressional approval.

Two Republican Senators, Rand Paul (R-KY) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), voted against their party to stop the strikes.

It is a difficult choice to intercept or not to intercept these boats in the Caribbean. It is safer not to intercept.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a warning to New York amid the rise of Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani, saying he believes the candidate’s election could lead to more "turmoil."

"This guy makes de Blasio look like Ronald Reagan," DeSantis said Wednesday on "Fox & Friends," referring to former Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio

DeSantis argued that Mamdani’s "far-left" policy positions could drive more residents and businesses out of New York and into Florida.

A new study from the nonpartisan Citizens Budget Commission found that more than 150,000 New Yorkers moved to Florida between 2018 and 2022, while only about 50,000 relocated in the opposite direction

Mamdani, a state assemblyman from Queens, has campaigned on reducing police funding, increasing taxes on wealthy individuals and corporations and making the city more affordable.

Investigate..

Letitia James said she would "chase Trump," vowing to investigate his business dealings as a campaign promise, as she said on the 2018 campaign trail.

After being elected, she followed through with the investigation, leading to a civil suit against him and his company for fraud.

The phrase is part of a broader pattern of her publicly stating her intention to hold him accountable for his actions, both before and after taking office.

A federal grand jury indicted her on two felony counts: bank fraud and making false statements to a financial institution.

Historic Dawn .

After the ceremony, President al-Sisi awarded Trump the Order of the Nile, a necklace made of pure gold considered to be Egypt's highest honors.

The Egyptian president called the day a "historic milestone that ends an agonizing chapter".

Among the many world leaders at the summit who stood for a photo opportunity with Trump was Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who less than a week ago was blocked by the US from attending the UN General Assembly in New York.

Although the first phase of the ceasefire agreement has been enacted, there is a lingering question over what role the Palestinian Authority might eventually play in Gaza.

Trump said the second phase of negotiations on a peace agreement were under way.

During his address to the Knesset, the American president suggested the region was experiencing "the historic dawn of a new Middle East".
