Tanked..

The US is learning from the war in Ukraine that tanks will no longer be able to charge forward in combat like they used to because they're vulnerable to enemy attacks with cheap drones, the new Army secretary said.

The amount of sensors on the battlefield, the amount of ability from both sides to see what's going on" has created a situation in which Army commanders cannot push tanks "as far forward in the formation as you used to be able to because very cheap drones are able to take them out of any usefulness," he said.

"We have got to be a lot leaner," the secretary said.

Comment:

A lot learned recently from the conflict in the Ukraine.  Now we we need Doge in this new era.  Just a thought.

Dog Fight..

Wednesday's military exchange between India and Pakistan in their respective controlled areas of Kashmir and the Pakistani province of Punjab reportedly included a "dog fight" between fighter jets of both nations, in which Pakistan claims they downed five Indian fighter jets.
The "dog fight' was the "largest and longest in recent aviation history," a senior Pakistani security source told CNN. An estimated 125 fighter jets engaged with each other in the air for over an hour, the source said, adding that missiles were being exchanged at distances of up to 160 kilometers (100 miles).
Comments:
There is always a desire for war, which will deplete your economic resources, human resurces and end up with more hate than before the fight begins. Just a thought.

Toppled..

Longtime labor leader George Gresham was toppled by his former lieutenants in a contentious race to lead the nation’s largest health care union.
Gresham, who became president of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East in 2007, lost his reelection bid by a resounding margin to challenger Yvonne Armstrong, who leads the union’s long-term care division, according to data reviewed by POLITICO.
The union is conducting an independent review of Gresham’s spending, after a nine-month POLITICO investigation revealed that he had long used members’ dues money to benefit himself, his family and political allies
The House Committee on Education and the Workforce subsequently asked the U.S. Department of Labor to investigate.

After years of reducing its reliance on Russian gas, the European Union is moving to turn off the taps completely within the next two years.
The European Commission (EC) on May 6 presented a detailed roadmap to fully sever the European Union’s energy dependence on Russia by 2027.
Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen struck a defiant tone when announcing the plan: "No more shall Euros go into (Russia’s) war chest. Your gas will be banned. Your shadow fleet will be stopped."
The plan has been described as the bloc’s most comprehensive effort yet to end imports of Russian gas, oil, and nuclear fuel, a dependency critics argue has long compromised EU sovereignty and funded the Kremlin’s war machine in Ukraine.
Energy that comes to our continent should not pay for a war of aggression against Ukraine," EU Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen said on May 6, adding: "We owe this to our citizens, to our companies, and to our brave Ukrainian friends."
Comment:
Can anyone in the EU say let us end this war? You still need energy from someone else and will pay twice as much......Just a thought.

In an email reported by Politico , Chris Senn, Federal Aviation Administration, said the Army helicopter "took a scenic route around the Pentagon versus proceeding directly from the west to the heliport."

Senn said the helicopter violated safety standards and required air traffic controllers to order two commercial jetliners to perform "go-around maneuvers," aborting their landzings and returning on another approach.

Delta plane and an Air Force jet outside Washington triggered a collision warning and "corrective instructions" from air traffic controllers.

Misha Agrawal, who was just days away from celebrating her 25th birthdaydied by suicide on April 24, a devastating end to what her family described as months of deepening depression linked to her online following.

Once aspiring to reach one million followers on Instagram, Agrawal reportedly became distraught after her follower count began to drop — a spiral that ultimately led to her death, her family revealed in an emotional public statement.

Mental health experts say the tragedy highlights a disturbing trend: the increasing psychological vulnerability of young people, particularly influencers, whose careers and self-worth are often tethered to online approval.
