Short..

People who are relatively short and those who wish to be taller tend to have more “Dark Triad” traits, according to new research published in Personality and Individual Differences

The findings suggest that short individuals may engage in antagonistic behaviors in an attempt to offset their height disadvantage.

The Dark Triad refers to a set of three related personality traits: Psychopathy, Narcissism, and Machiavellianism.

Psychopathy is characterized by a lack of empathy and remorse, impulsivity, and a disregard for social norms and rules.

Narcissism is characterized by an inflated sense of self-importance, entitlement, and a need for admiration.

Machiavellianism refers to a tendency to be manipulative, cynical, and lacking in morality.

Attitude..

Lori Lightfoot rode into the Chicago mayor’s office in 2019 as a reform candidate, offering a break from the city’s clubby political scene while making history as the first Black woman and first out gay person to hold the office as she won all 50 wards.

Four years later, the Second City’s voters demonstrated how drastically its political dynamics have shifted when Lightfoot on Tuesday failed to finish in the top two and advance to the April runoff.
Chicago is now the third major city in recent years with a mayoral election that will test attitudes – among a heavily Democratic electorate – toward crime and policing.  Just a thought.

Tension..

A US Navy reconnaissance jet flew over the Taiwan Strait on Monday, in a maneuver intended to assert the right to operate in international airspace despite strong objections from the Chinese military.
The US 7th Fleet said the flight of the P-8A Poseidon over the waterway that separates China and Taiwan was conducted in accordance with international law, demonstrating "the United States' commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific."
A spokesman for China's Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army, Army Senior Col. Shi Yi, accused Washington of hyping the flight and inflaming tensions.
The US flight "has deliberately disrupted the regional situation and jeopardized the peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait," Shi said in a report on the PLA's English language website.
That allegation was amplified in Chinese state media, with a story in the nationalist state-run tabloid Global Times claiming the flight of the US Navy antisubmarine warfare and surveillance jet was "just another provocation aimed at stirring up troubles. Just a thought.

Chinese and Mexican nationals operate almost all illegal marijuana growing operations in the United States' largest county, the leader of a local marijuana enforcement team told Fox News.
"Mostly what we deal with are either Mexican nationals or Chinese nationals as our two largest groups of people that we deal with are non-citizens."
"An estimate of probably 97 to 98% of all of our indoor marijuana cultivations are run by Chinese nationals."  investigation showed that Chinese nationals were bringing in money from China, purchasing houses in the Chino, Ontario area and turning them into marijuana cultivations."

Maskless..

The top New York City Police Department official advised business owners to only allow in patrons who take off their masks, ostensibly to deter crime by people who cannot be identified by cameras.
The Feb. 28 comments by the NYPD’s Chief of Department, Jeffrey Maddrey, would represent a remarkable development in city policy towards the COVID-19 pandemic, likely marking the first-time city brass officially and explicitly suggested people stop wearing masks in some capacity.
The recommendation comes about a year after New York began easing mask mandates in public places, and most New Yorkers began to shed their face coverings.
Maddrey made the comments during a press conference about a Feb. 22 jewelry store robbery in Flushing, Queens, where several thieves made off with more than $1 million in jewelry.
One man in particular was wearing all-black and a face mask when he smashed a display case and piled loot into a bag; he and the others pistol-whipped and kicked the 78-year-old proprietor of the store before fleeing. They have not been caught.
