President Joe Biden imposed stringent new vaccine rules on federal workers, large employers and health care staff in a sweeping attempt to contain the latest surge of Covid-19.

The new requirements could apply to as many as 100 million Americans -- close to two-thirds of the American workforce -- and amount to Biden's strongest push yet to require vaccines for much of the country.

"We've been patient, but our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us," Biden said, his tone hardening toward Americans who still refuse to receive a vaccine despite ample evidence of their safety and full approval of one -- the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine -- from the US Food and Drug Administration.

Again, there is an age factor in this Covid-19 diseases. Please remember just giving orders similar to the Afghanistan's exit will not help.  Just a thought.

People who were not fully vaccinated this spring and summer were more than 10 times more likely to be hospitalized, and 11 times more likely to die of covid-19, than those who were fully vaccinated, according to one of three major studies published  by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that highlight the continued efficacy of all three vaccines amid the spread of the highly contagious delta variant.

A second study showed that the Moderna coronavirus vaccine was more effective in preventing hospitalizations than its counterparts from Pfizer-BioNTech and Johnson & Johnson. That assessment was based on the largest U.S. study to date of the real-world effectiveness of all three vaccines, involving about 32,000 patients seen in hospitals, emergency departments and urgent-care clinics across nine states from June through early August/2021.

 That finding echoes a smaller study by the Mayo Clinic Health System in August, not yet peer-reviewed, which showed the Moderna vaccine to be more effective than Pfizer-BioNTech at preventing infections during the delta wave.

And yet the Pfizer vaccines is approved where Moderna is still, not yet.

Also, nothing related to age in these studies, where other statistics indicates that old age is a factor in Hospitalization and death. So the view of these studies is incomplete.  just a thought.

Taking his toughest tone yet against those Americans still unvaccinated, President Joe Biden has triggered vows of legal challenges from GOP governors representing some of the very states where he's trying to use mandates to get more people inoculated.

At least 19 Republican governors have lashed back at Biden's promise to use OSHA to pressure employers  to mandate COVID-19 vaccines or have workers submit to weekly testing. The Republican governors called the mandate an overreach that will force Americans to choose between their job and the vaccine. While the Democratic governors are saying " God help US all"

While Biden said, during a visit to local middle school, that all scientists would agree with his new strategy that using protecting public health as a justification for mandates makes "considerable sense." 

His taking a combative tone may come with new political and public health risks and further polarize Americans, fueling the already bitter political divide around the pandemic.

The saying is commonly attributed to Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, who supposedly wrote, “L'enfer est plein de bonnes volontés ou désirs,” which translates to hell is full of good intentions and wishes

Cuomo began his career working as the campaign manager for his father in the 1982 New York gubernatorial election. Later, Cuomo worked as an assistant district attorney in New York City, entered the private practice of law. married Kerry Kennedy in 1990-2005.

Served as assistant secretary of Housing and Urban Development from 1993 to 1997. From 1997 to 2001, as secretary of housing and urban development. 

Cuomo was elected New York attorney general in 2006.

He received national attention for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York. Although he was initially lauded for his response efforts, he faces renewed criticism and federal investigation after it was discovered that his administration covered up information pertaining to COVID-19 deaths among nursing home residents.

An investigation commissioned by New York Attorney General Letitia James reported in August 2021 that Cuomo sexually harassed eleven women during his time in office.

Cuomo ordered all nonessential businesses to decrease in-office workforces by 50% as confirmed cases climbed to 2,382. 

Cuomo said the state would be taking new actions to increase the supply of personal protective equipment.

He delivered a powerful speech on 3/17/2020 on coming together as Americans.
"This is an extraordinary time in this nation's history. It will go down in the history books as one of those moments of true crisis and confusion and chaos." 

Cuomo said. "Everybody is afraid. Everybody is nervous. ... What does government do in this moment? It steps up, it performs, it does what it's supposed to do. 
It does it better than it's ever done it before."

That was a year and a half ago. With all of this nice talk, what brought us here?

Commercial flight took off from Kabul airport on Thursday for the first time since the Taliban seized Afghanistan, hours after the militants cleared a group of Americans and other foreign nationals to leave the country.

 Americans were on board the Qatar Airways flight, reported earlier to be bound for Doha.

A US official and a source with knowledge of the matter had earlier said the Taliban had cleared around 200 people, including American citizens, to fly out.

The Taliban wants the Americans far away from Afghanistan... away... So just get out.

The leaders of two federal health agencies are urging the White House to rethink its plan to roll out COVID-19 vaccine boosters starting Sept. 20.

The leaders of the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are telling White House COVID-19 advisers that there is not enough data right now to make a blanket recommendation on boosters and that it may be prudent to start boosters with older adults first, pending FDA authorization.  

In mid-August, President Biden said the administration would begin offering boosters on Sept. 20, pending FDA and CDC authorization. It would apply, he said, to people who had received their second shot of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least eight months ago.

"I listen to the scientists..........." Biden said. when they agree with me, that is what was implied.  Just a thought.

Of the so-called C40 cities that have committed to addressing climate change, New York has the second highest level of greenhouse emissions behind only Tokyo, and on a per-capita basis is only slightly behind Los Angeles. 

This might come as a surprise to those who think New York’s robust public transportation system, which accounts for a mere three percent of the city’s overall emissions but moves some 7.5 million riders on the subway and buses every day, make it a particularly clean energy city.

Schaller estimates that from 2013 to 2016, TLC-licensed vehicles, including app-based drivers, added 600 million more miles traveled very slowley, only one-third of which were with a passenger in the car.  

As private vehicle registration and for-hire vehicle use is rising, public transportation use is falling. The two are very much linked; as the subways and buses continue to provide inconsistent and often frustrating service, people opt for alternatives.  

So between Climate change, deteriorated subway/Buses system,  and Covid-19 virus threat, [that killed 60,000 New Yorkers] the condensed City of New York is the main culprit.  Just a thought.
