Unionize..

Nevada is the only state where people can legally purchase sex, and now sex workers at one of the state's oldest brothels are fighting to become the nation's first to be unionized.

Sex work, and the employment rights of the those who do it, remains a largely taboo topic worldwide. Prostitution is only legal in a handful of countries, including Germany, and organizing efforts vary.

In Spain, where prostitution is unregulated, the government approved a union for sex workers in 2018 but a court quickly outlawed it, saying it made the exploitation of prostitutes legal.

"All workers are guaranteed certain human decencies and dignities, and the right to organize is one of those," said Marc Ellis, state president of the Nevada Communications Workers of America. Just a thought.

Loneliness..

Loneliness is the distressing feeling that occurs when your need for social contact and relationships is not met. It is distinct from being alone; while solitude can be peaceful, loneliness is a perceived state of disconnection from others.

Chronic loneliness is now recognized as a major public health crisis, comparable to the risks of smoking or obesity.

Verification..

Iowa senators approved a number of bills Wednesday related to citizenship verification using federal information.

The Senate approved Senate File 2203 in a 34-13 vote Wednesday, requiring the secretary of state to verify the citizenship status of each registered voter using the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database.

If a person is not verified as a U.S. citizen through the SAVE database check, the Secretary of State’s office would provide notice to the county auditor, who would then designate this individual as having “unconfirmed” citizenship status.

The county auditor would be required to send notice to an individual about their status, providing information about how they can provide proof of citizenship, contact the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services to correct information in the SAVE database, or to allow them to cancel their voter registration request.

If a person does not provide proof of citizenship within 90 days of being designated as “unconfirmed,” their voter registration would be canceled.

Axel..

Dr. Richard Axel, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist, said he is stepping down as co-director of Columbia University's Zuckerman Mind Brain Behavior Institute on the heels of his association with notorious sex predator Jeffrey Epstein drawing public attention.
Axel has been a Columbia University professor for 53 years and will continue his lab's research at the Zuckerman institute, he said. Axel, in his statement, said he will resign as an investigator from Columbia's Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
In a December 2007 New York magazine profile of Epstein, Axel is quoted saying about him, "He has the ability to make connections that other minds can't make."
"He is extremely smart and probing. He can very quickly acquire information to think about a problem and also to identify biological problems without having all the data that a scientist would have," Axel said in the article. "He also has an extremely short attention span.
Comment:
The Dems are working hard on the Epstein files. Wonder why?
The benefit is to create another issue away from the border protection, the criminal deportation, the inflation that is going down, the prices of gasoline and food that decrease dramatically.
