No Clue...

“We've seen a sharp increase in cases for the past 10 days. So far they have mostly been very mild cases, with patients having flu-like symptoms: dry coughs, fever, night sweats, a lot of body pains," said Dr. Unben Pillay, a general practitioner in Gauteng province where 81% of the new cases have been reported.

The pharmaceutical companies speaking they can tweek the current vaccines to fit the new variant Omicron.

Politicians, not to get caught doing nothing, on a daily talk to say something.
No one would top the short guy, so he has to say something.

All in all, the healthcare in South Africa is different, the vaccinations are low so that is very different.

Are we aiming to prevent infection by Covid all together? Good luck with that.
Are we aiming to prevent severe infection and hospitalizations, that is the game.

So there is so much talk, so little benefits but spreading fear for sure. The Media are in the core of it.

That is how some politician in with the Media fouled the public. Just a thought.

Restrict...

Acting on advice from the nation's top infectious diseases expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Biden administration will restrict travel from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi.

On 2017 section 3 of the order blocks entry of people from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, for at least 90 days, regardless of whether or not they hold valid non-diplomatic visas.

So it seems like this is going to be a current situation regardless of the reason.  Just a thought.

Credibility...

Boebert...

The controversy engulfing Rep. Lauren Boebert escalated to a full boil Monday after the Colorado Republican went after Rep. Ilhan Omar in a video following a tense phone call between the two.

Boebert claimed in a video that she sought to deescalate tensions with Omar after a video circulated on social media last week of the conservative lawmaker making  remarks, calling Omar a member of the “jihad squad” and saying the Minnesota Democrat was safe to ride with in a Capitol elevator so long as she wasn’t wearing a backpack.

When Boebert called Omar on Monday, the firebrand freshman said she demanded a public apology from Omar, who herself wanted open contrition from Boebert an exchange that will only ratchet up the friction between the two parties ahead of the House’s return from Thanksgiving break.

Concern...

The U.S. is putting travel restrictions in place in response to a new variant of the coronavirus circulating in southern Africa. The restrictions are being implemented out of an abundance of caution, said a senior Biden administration official.
The World Health Organization announced that it deems this strain, a variant of concern, and has named it omicron.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that no cases of omicron have been identified to date in the U.S., but that the agency has surveillance systems in place and it expects the variant will be identified quickly if it emerges in the U.S.
Gov. Cuomo would have said I don't trust the Federal Gov.
Vice President Biden would say this is Xenophobia.

Suspend...

"The New York Attorney General's office released transcripts and exhibits that shed new light on Chris Cuomo's involvement in his brother's defense," a CNN spokesperson said

"However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother's efforts than we previously knew," the spokesperson added. "As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation."

The suspension came after significant criticism from people who noted that Chris Cuomo had violated widely accepted journalistic norms. Inside CNN, staffers expressed dismay about the anchor's conduct.

The cache of documents included text messages between Chris Cuomo and Melissa DeRosa, a then-top aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, that suggested he was instrumental in working to craft a defense against a flood of sexual misconduct allegations.

The text messages also revealed that Chris Cuomo sought to use his connections in the press to help prepare the then-governor's team as accusers started to make their stories public.

While everyone is entitled to a good defense, in this case it seems that hiding and creating an alternate truth was what made the result what it is. Just a thought.

Approved...

Advisers to the US Food and Drug Administration voted 13-10 Tuesday to recommend emergency use authorization of a pill made by Merck and Ridgeback Biotherapeutics to help treat Covid-19.
Members of the FDA's Antimicrobial Drugs Advisory Committee were split in their vote to recommend molnupiravir, which can reduce the relative risk someone will progress to severe disease or death by about 30%.
The absolute reduction in risk of severe disease or death was 3% -- 9.7% of people who took placebo died, compared to 6.8% of those given molnupiravir.
If authorization is granted, the drug would be the first oral antiviral treatment to fight Covid-19. It comes in capsule form.
It is a one important step in treatment of this elusive disease.  Just a thought.
