Heist..

Binance suffered a historic cyberattack resulting in an estimated $6.3 billion loss in cryptocurrency after hackers gained unauthorized access via compromised wallet-signing infrastructure and engineer systems.

Approximately $6.3 billion in digital assets across ten blockchains was drained within roughly 20 minutes.

Attribution: Blockchain forensic and intelligence firms like TRM Labs and Elliptic attribute the attack to TraderTraitor, a North Korea-linked state-sponsored hacking collective.

In coordination with law enforcement and blockchain partners, around $3 billion of the stolen funds have been frozen on-chain. This includes more than $1.5 billion in USDT frozen by Tether and over $800 million frozen by Circle.

Binance temporarily suspended customer withdrawals and deposits following the breach. Co-CEO Richard Teng and founder Changpeng Zhao stated that all user losses will be covered through company reserves and the Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), with withdrawals expected to gradually resume. [

Bitcoin dropped roughly 5% below $77,000 following the announcement, though broader market contagion remained relatively calm compared to past crypto crises.

Climate Hushers..

As the midterm elections approach, the Democratic politicians who once talked about climate change as the defining crisis of our time now barely mention it at all.

The phrase has begun disappearing from their speeches, social media posts, and podcast appearances. The main exception is Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat who accused “climate hushers” of pushing the party to stop talking about the overheating planet.

Climate hushing” began, is the 2024 after President Donald Trump beat former Vice President Kamala Harris in all seven swing states.
Democrats were left scrambling to figure out where they went wrong.

One popular theory was that they were too busy harping on social justice and planetary problems at the expense of everyday concerns voters cared more about, like the rising cost of living.

But Known..

Two dozen unmasked but known ICE vehicles prowled the streets around Elmhurst Hospital for more than 10 hours on Thursday, Oct. 22, but neighborhood defenders did not witness a single abduction according to Hands Off NYC, a grassroots coalition of more
Hands Off NYC said the operation at Elmhurst Hospital, just a block south of Roosevelt Avenue, was one of the largest ICE operations seen in the city since the crackdowns on Canal Street last fall.
“Neighbors showed up, blowing whistles, documenting, and alerting the community,” Hands Off NYC Co-Director Rebecca Rodriguez said in a statement. “Meanwhile, ICE’s violent tactics were on full display — agents ran neighbors with their cars, repeatedly threatened to use pepper-spray on neighbors who were documenting, and drove the wrong direction on one-way residential streets , going double or triple the speed limit.”

Evaporated..

On Friday, October 30, 2026, Wall Street suffered a massive, tech-led selloff that wiped out an estimated $1.76 trillion to $1.8 trillion in total U.S. stock market value in a single session.

Driven by intense investor anxiety over massive corporate artificial intelligence (AI) spending and underwhelming earnings guidance, the major U.S. indexes recorded their steepest single-day losses since June:
The correction was heavily fueled by reactions to earnings reports from major tech companies released the prior evening. Intel (INTC) plummeted nearly 29%, marking its worst trading day since 1974 after issuing a weak profit forecast.
Amazon (AMZN) slid 1.4% as worries mounted over its multi-billion dollar capital expenditures on AI infrastructure. Additionally, other chipmakers like AMD cratered nearly 11%, and Nvidia (NVDA) dropped 4.2%.
The single-day plunge capped off a brutal month for tech, bringing the total value erased from the tech-heavy Nasdaq-100 index to more than $2 trillion over the course of October.
