The rise of the voluntarily single woman has been happening in Western societies slowly. A well-paying jobs, legal protection from economic or physical abuse, reliable birth control and the possibility of fulfilling careers and adventures support that.

Currently, 53% of women over 18 are in the singles column. Women now have choices that allow them to customize the arc of their lives.  

A woman who is poor and meets equally poor  men, is in a tough spot. Yet the dreams of  comfortable living is always there.

Some women with children, may be better off with government help and a boyfriend than a husband 

When a woman is very privileged or highly successful, marriage come very easy or not depending on many factors.

Marriage is very important to women but being single is a strong competitor.

Convicted...

A Florida widow was found guilty of murder in connection to her husband’s 2000 slaying that was staged as a boating mishap.

Denise Williams, 48, was convicted  in the death of her high school sweetheart, Mike Williams, who disappeared in December 2000 while on a hunting trip to Lake Seminole in Florida. She faced charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy and accessory after the fact. 

Denise was having an affair with Mike’s best friend, Brian Winchester, before his death. They alleged the lovers plotted to kill him so they could be together and she could cash in on his $1.75 million life insurance policy.

Denise and Winchester  carried on with their relationship after her husband’s death, they married in 2005. The pair separated then divorced in 2016.

Winchester allegedly became paranoid that Denise would tell authorities the truth about Mike’s disappearance. He was arrested in 2016 for kidnapping Denise at gunpoint to convince her not to turn him in to police. 

He was offered immunity in Mike’s case and he confessed. The details Winchester provided to police were corroborated by the discovery of Mike’s body in Carr Lake.

Denise  thought she can manipulate Winchester to do the dirty work and he did. But what happened after her husband's death indicted her. Just a thought.

Clingy...

A woman in her 50s has learned that she doesn’t need a relationship in order to be happy. She has a full life, including close friends, children, exes, family, and plenty of hobbies and interests. So if a woman in her 50s is interested in dating you, chances are she thinks you’re worth her time.  she is very rarely clingy.

She knows what she wants in life, including in her relationships.  Her maturity also means she can easily communicate her wants  clearly and effectively.  

She already has kids who are now grown up or moving out of her house any day now. Her schedule is no longer tied down to shuttling between baseball practice and doctor appointments, nor is she pressured to find “The One” ASAP due to a ticking biological clock.  

No longer awkward or uncomfortable due to the inexperience and insecurity of her youth, a woman  knows how to hold a conversation,  and steer it. She’ll let you talk about yourself, while also ensuring she shares enough about herself.  Expect a smooth, flowy conversation peppered with witty jokes that will surely make your night.
Like a fine wine, few in her 50s has only gotten better with time. If you’re lucky enough to date her, it’s sure to be an extraordinary experience, but that depends on where she has been before.

Satisfaction...

We think we want to be happy. Yet many of us are working toward some other end, according to Daniel Kahneman, winner of the 2002 Nobel Prize in economics.

Kahneman contends that happiness and satisfaction are distinct.

Happiness is a momentary experience that arises spontaneously and is fleeting. Meanwhile, satisfaction is a long-term feeling, built over time and based on achieving goals. 

 Spending time with friends is highly effective. Yet those focused on long-term goals that yield satisfaction don’t necessarily prioritize socializing, as they’re busy with the bigger picture.

We’re not as interested in happiness as we may claim.  We're actually want to maximize our satisfactions.

 Life satisfaction is connected to social yardsticks–achieving goals, meeting expectations and accumulate wealth.   Money has a significant influence on life satisfaction, whereas happiness is affected by money only when funds are lacking. Poverty creates suffering, but above a certain level of income that satisfies our basic needs, wealth doesn’t increase happiness.  Just a thought.

Fraud...

A Staten Island married couple were charged with fraud for taking more than $750,000 in Build it Back (BIB) funds after falsely claiming a home they no longer lived in was their primary residence when Hurricane Sandy hit nearly five years ago, federal prosecutors.

The couple claimed their primary residence at 6 Topping St. in New Dorp Beach was damaged during the storm, according to court papers. The couple had actually moved out of the house at least seven months earlier, prosecutors say.

Investigators said they caught on to the scam after interviewing neighbors who told them the family had moved out months before the October 2012 storm hit and the residence had been left empty, according to court documents.

At one point neighbors called the FDNY after smelling gas at the residence and responders had to shut down a gas line in the home.  Investigators then obtained the lease singed at their current home and spoke with their landlord.

Careful...

Some guys are narcissists, self-centered, and controlling to the point of wanting authority over where the other person live, eat, and socialize.  A toxic man is someone who doesn’t support you, or encourage you. You end up feeling bad about yourself.

 Mr. Wrong comes in all shapes, sizes, and aspects of life. But what is toxic for one woman  is not necessarily toxic for another. Some women can tolerate a guy who is narcissistic and controlling, while others can’t.

Sometimes there is a feeling that we can change a man or our love is stronger than everyone else’s or it will be different this time. 

It’s really the relationship that’s toxic, not the man or the woman.  If the couple quickly expand the relationship, the separation may not be clean for a fresh start or may be impossible all together..
Why do women get involved with a guy who is bad for them in the first place?

Settle...

Settling for a deadbeat loser is like settling for a job you hate.  What is it about non-ideal situations which makes us keep carrying on, doing nothing to change? If you hate your job, get laid with a nice severance check or just change it if you can!

In the beginning, most women don’t know the guy is a deadbeat loser. He is reasonably attractive and tells a good story about his current situation and his ambitions. Obviously, he will be on his best behavior during the wooing process.  By the time a woman hooks up with the guy, only afterward will she see his true colors.

Her “oh, shit” moment comes at a time too late to fix anything. As we are generally all optimists, a woman believes she can salvage the relationship and change him for the behavior she wants him to be. He can get a better job, make more money, help with the children, and stay charming.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard she tries, she can’t teach a gorilla how to put down the toilet seat, pay for her affairs, and write her sweet notes of nothing. It’s too late, and eventually, the relationship fades.  In retrospect, every woman who has gone out with a deadbeat loser realizes the case. “I don’t know what I was thinking“, is a phrase that always comes up.

A femme fatale  is a stock character of a mysterious and seductive woman whose charms ensnare her lovers, often leading them into compromising, dangerous, and deadly situations. She is an archetype of literature and art. Her ability to entrance and hypnotise her victim with a spell was in the earliest stories seen as being literally supernatural; hence, the femme fatale today is still often described as having a power akin to an enchantress, seductress, vampire, witch, or demon, having power over men.

A femme fatale tries to achieve her hidden purpose by using feminine wiles such as beauty, charm, and sexual allure,  lies or coercion rather than charm. She may also make use of some subduing weapon

She may also be (or imply that she is) a victim, caught in a situation from which she cannot escape.
A younger version of a femme fatale is called a fille fatale, or "fatal girl".

One of the most common traits includes promiscuity and the "rejection of motherhood," seen as "one of her most threatening qualities since by denying his immortality and his posterity it leads to the ultimate destruction of the male."^[1] Femmes fatale are typically villainous, or at least morally ambiguous, and always associated with a sense of mystification, and unease.

How can you tell whether an “accidental” pregnancy is legit? 

Women intent on trapping a man with pregnancy may fake it until they can make it.

Many Pregnancy benefits that might motivate someone to get pregnant accidentally-on-purpose.
 Fulfill her dream to be a mom, seal the deal on your relationship, and get you to support her directly or through child support.

The pregnancy is intended to secure a relationship or financial support or the primary objective is motherhood.

A woman may seduce her partner when she thinks she has an increased chance of conceiving.  But then again, some women experience increased sexual arousal when they are fertile. She may just have been seductive because she was revved up by her hormones.

All in all, if you don't want children you know what to do or not to do...

A London woman petitioned U.K. government to make it illegal for companies to require women to wear high heels at work, and the Parliament now must debate the issue.

A 27-year-old Nicola Thorp spoke out about   "sexism" she faced when she was sent home for refusing to wear high heels.

Thorp had just been employed as a temporary receptionist for finance consultancy. When she showed up in black flats for her first day,  a supervisor told her she had to wear two- to four-inch heels or otherwise go home, citing  dress code for female employees.

She said 'You know, I don’t see why what I’m wearing is going to affect my job in any way,'" . "It was a 9-hour shift to escort clients from the front desk to meeting rooms. I’d be on my feet for nine hours."

On Twitter, the company said "with immediate effect, all our female colleagues can wear plain flat shoes or plain court shoes as they prefer."

Under U.K. law, employers can dismiss staff who fail to live up to "reasonable" dress code demands, as long as they've been given enough time to buy shoes and clothes.

More than 2,400 U.S. doctors have been sanctioned for sexually abusing their patients, according to a new report that surveyed records from all 50 states.

In New York City the former head of clinical research at the Mount Sinai hospital emergency room, Dr. David Newman, is facing charges that he abused four of his female patients, including one he allegedly drugged while she was in the ER.

Newman has pleaded not guilty to charges, and the hospital said he no longer works there.

Michael Hestrin, the district attorney in Riverside County, California is prosecuting a doctor accused of 26 felony counts of sexual assault. Dr. John McGuire has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is being held in jail on a $3 million bond. His license has been suspended by the state medical board.

According to a civil complaint, McGuire sexually assaulted a patient recovering in a private room from the effects of anesthesia. He allegedly lifted the “plaintiff’s gown and placed his ungloved hands on her bare breasts and felt all around looking for ‘swelling.’”

In another alleged incident, the lawsuit claims McGuire “rubbed plaintiff’s vagina with an ungloved hand and fingers,” supposedly to check on a rash.

Dr. David Mata, once praised on the floor of Congress as a “great humanitarian” and named doctor of the year in Oregon, was accused of 140 counts of sexual abuse of patients.

He pleaded guilty to six counts of sexual acts with patients but was not sentenced to prison and served his probation at home. The California medical board revoked his license. [ABC News]
