Blessed..

In 2022, the Biden administration and the U.S. Congress have directed nearly $50 billion in assistance to Ukraine, which includes humanitarian, financial, and military support, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a German research institute.
Corruption is an issue in Ukrainian society. Since regaining independence, Ukraine has faced a series of politicians, criminal bosses, and oligarchs who used corruption of police, political parties, and industry to gain power.
On the other hand...Speaking to Crux, Riad Sargi, executive director of Caritas Syria, said international sanctions and the United States’ Caesar Act “really badly affect life in Syria.”  “In the end, the [victim] of the sanctions is not the richest people, but the poorest people, the children. They survive under abnormal conditions, without education, without medications, without anything, and without food sometimes,” he said.
Caritas is a global federation of 162 Catholic charitable organizations operating in 200 countries around the world.
What does that say about our Human conscience?

Syria..

The head of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Khaled Hboubati, demanded on Tuesday, February 7, that Western countries, specifically the US and its allies, lift their siege and sanctions on Syria so that rescue and relief work can proceed unimpeded, after the country was devastated by a powerful earthquake on Monday.

“We need heavy equipment, ambulances and fire fighting vehicles to continue to rescue and remove the rubble, and this entails lifting sanctions on Syria as soon as possible.”

A powerful earthquake registering a magnitude of 7.8 struck Turkey and Syria on Monday. Over 5,000 people have been reported dead so far. In Syria alone the death toll was 1,602 on Monday. These numbers are only expected to rise as a large number of people are suspected to be still buried under the debris of houses that collapsed in the earthquake and its aftershocks.  Just a thought.

For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;

Tell Me..

Homest..?

During Monday’s press briefing, a reporter asked Jean-Pierre to explain why recent polls seem to contradict the White House’s assertion that President Biden helped Democrats achieve unexpected gains in the November midterms.

The reporter cited a recent NBC poll showing only 34% of Americans believe the president is honest in trustworthy, 32% are confident in his ability to handle a crisis, 31% believe Biden is competent and effective as president, 28% believe he has the necessary mental and physical health to be president, and a mere 23% believe he can unite the country.

But we are Democracy?... Just a thought.

Dumping..

After migrants faced off with New York City police over being transferred from a hotel to free housing, Mayor Eric Adams has called the entire situation "very frustrating
"The White House must have a real decompression strategy," Adams says.
Among his top requests is for the White House to appoint a single coordinator to handle migrants’ travel, instead of leaving that work to Republican governors whose primary concerns, he claims, may be political, not humanitarian.
The Biden administration rejected the notion that it wasn't doing enough to help Democrat cities that have been the recipients of migrants: "Look, we're going to continue to do the work," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a press briefing last week when asked about the mayor’s request,
"I have a Republican governor dumping on my city," Adams said. "I have a Democratic governor dumping on my city. That is where the national government should have stepped in and said, ‘Wait a minute, let's coordinate this effort.’"
Just a "dumping" thought.

Grief..

Ambiguous loss can be invisible to onlookers and may therefore go unacknowledged, leading to isolation and "frozen grief."

It is important to acknowledge the gravity and costs of the loss in some way. Talk to a trusted loved one or a mental health practitioner.

The only person that truly understands the magnitude of your loss is you. Research explains that being compassionate with yourself and remaining mindful of your triggers can save you a great deal of heartache.

Research explains that channeling your negative emotions toward a cause—like rehabilitation efforts or dementia awareness—can help you leave your grief behind and create a sense of purpose from the loss.
Just a thought.

Keeping alcohol consumption to one or two drinks a day lessened the odds of developing dementia, according to a study of nearly 4 million South Koreans.

After adjusting for age, sex, smoking, exercise level and other demographic factors, researchers found people who drinks about a drink a day — were 21% less likely to develop dementia than people who never drank.
People who said they continued to drink about two drinks a day, were 17% less likely to develop dementia, the study found.
However, drinking more than two drinks a day increased that risk, according to the study published Monday in the journal JAMA Network Open.

Fly ..

Image is not related.

People don’t dress up to fly the way they used to. And at airports in South Florida sometimes they barely dress up at all.

What’s remarkable is that in Miami this isn’t unusual. Here’s a photo from last year and the best isn’t that passengers are just casually checking in wearing swimsuits. It’s the nonchalant expressions on the American Airlines agents’ faces.

And to think that last year American told a former Miss Universe that her athleisure wear wouldn’t fly as attire? But Miami is just different. Very different.  Just a thought.

VS..

With the discovery of President Joe Biden's classified documents, the Republicans have quickly gone on the offensive, insisting on equivalency with former President Donald Trump's mishandling of secret files.

The release of Biden's files has embarrassed the White House and sparked yet another hyper-partisan war of words that only divides American society further.

I think we are eager to identify the wrong of other nations, and here, is just ... Draw your own conclusion.  Just a thought.
