The National Rifle Association of America sued New York state's governor and economic development arm in federal court on Thursday for closing gun stores during the coronavirus epidemic by deeming them non-essential businesses.
In the lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of New York, the NRA claimed that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has "effectively and indefinitely suspended a key component of the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution" by forcing gun stores across the state to temporarily shutter their doors.
As states around the country issued stay-at-home orders amid the coronavirus pandemic, some, like New York, didn't deem firearm and ammunition retailers to be essential, forcing those businesses to close.

NY working with 6 Northeast states to reopen economy

New York will partner with six other Northeast states to buy critical coronavirus supplies, and Empire State officials will mandate hospitals statewide to stockpile at least 90 days’ worth of protective gear in preparation for a possible second wave of the contagion, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday.
New York and its six partners — New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island and Massachusetts — will now enter the marketplace together to buy some $5 billion of personal protective equipment, tests, ventilators and other equipment from companies and overseas suppliers.
The seven states are already partnered to move towards a gradual reopening of their respective economies. But that story didn't hold.

New York is behind other States since it is highly condensed in NYC. Rhode Island and other State either did reopen or on its way. Not waiting for Cuomo's plan.

This plan of cooperation is a day late and a dollar short. Each State has its own population, budget, economics and number of death. New York State is the highest in Covid 19 death, a result of the politicians' policies. Reopen NYC will take a miracle.

To all the mothers in my extended family, hope you all have the happiest day ever. Seeing all your children up and running doing their things successfully make us all appreciate mothers contribution.

Happy Mother's day also to all  those who helped and assisted in caring for children of other family members. Many have participated.
You don't have to have your own to be a fabulous mother. Mother Teresa and Lillian Thrasher are our life long examples.

Granlund cartoon: Biden running - Hannibal Courier-Post -

Rush Limbaugh said he has an “instinctive feeling” that Joseph R. Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign may soon disappear courtesy of “the highest levels of the Democrat National Committee.”
The conservative icon said his decades of experience reading political tea leaves and analyzing media bias has given him a gut instinct on the Democrat’s fate, given sexual assault allegations by former Senate staffer Tara Reade.
“Biden is somebody that’s not gonna be on the ticket anyway,” said Mr. Limbaugh, who returned from a round of cancer treatment. “Something’s gonna happen.

He said that biased media outlets and the DNC have a vested interest in ousting Mr. Biden, given the political stock they have invested in the #MeToo movement in recent years.
“They’ve gotten caught on” #MeToo hypocrisy, Mr. Limbaugh continued. “Now they’ve got the exact kind of allegation that [Supreme Court Justice Brett] Kavanaugh was hit with except this one is even more believable. … So they’re faced with a hard, cold reality on the Democrat side, and that is they have to find a way to get him off the ticket.
Just a thought.

Fifteen children in New York City have been hospitalized with symptoms compatible with a multi-system inflammatory syndrome possibly linked to the coronavirus, according to a health alert issued by the New York City Health Department on Monday.
The patients, ages 2 to 15 years, were hospitalized from April 17 to May 1, according to the alert.
Several tested positive for Covid-19 or had positive antibody tests.

Specialists in the UK recently warned that a small number of children were becoming ill with the rare syndrome that could be linked to coronavirus. The Paediatric Intensive Care Society UK (PICS) warned about a small rise in the number of cases of critically ill children, some who had tested positive for Covid-19.

The New York Times reported that researchers tracking the genetic makeup of the virus now believe that many scattered outbreaks in localities around the U.S. had their roots in New York, where city residents fled lockdown orders and likely spread the disease.
"It means that we missed the boat early on, and the vast majority in this country is coming from domestic spread," Kristian Andersen, a microbiology and immunology professor at Scripps Research, told the Times. "I keep hearing that it's somebody else's fault. That's not true. It's not somebody else's fault, it's our own fault."
"We now have enough data to feel pretty confident that New York was the primary gateway for the rest of the country," added the Yale School of Public Health's Nathan Grubaugh.

Bill de Blasio, Chirlane McCray roasted for stroll through ...

New York City mayor Bill de Blasio was caught walking almost 11 miles from his home in Manhattan at the weekend, whilst encouraging New Yorkers to snitch on neighbours not adhering to stay-at-home measures.
De Blasio was seen strolling through Prospect Park in Brooklyn with his wife.
Critics say the mayor’s visits to Prospect Park are unnecessarily jeopardizing the health of the staff who drive and accompany him to and from his mayoral residence, Gracie Mansion on the Upper East Side – located within Carl Schurz Park.
The mayor's actions also contradict his plea to New Yorkers to limit non-essential travel under COVID-19 stay home orders.

Thousands of employees at a hospital in the epicenter of America's fight against the coronavirus are being rewarded for their hard work.
More than 4,000 hospital staff -- including doctors, physician assistants, nurses, and facilities and food service teams -- at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst were surprised with a three-night complimentary vacation, Hyatt and American Airlines announced Friday.
The two companies collaborated to treat the frontline workers with free round trip flights on American Airlines to Hyatt hotels in select destinations across the US and Caribbean "to help them recharge and reconnect with their loved ones" once they are able to.
