Floss...*

It's one of the most universal recommendations in all of public health: Floss daily to prevent gum disease and cavities.  Except there's little proof that flossing works.

Still, the federal government, dental organizations and manufacturers of floss have pushed the practice for decades. Dentists provide samples to their patients; the American Dental Association
insists on its website that flossing "is an essential part of taking care of your teeth and gums."

When the federal government issued its latest dietary guidelines, the flossing recommendation had been removed, without notice. The government acknowledged the effectiveness of flossing had never been researched, as required.

What else is not required?    Looking forward.

A 19-year-old Syrian man was arrested, suspected of planning a “major terrorist attack” that would kill and injure as many people as possible The man, who was taken into custody in the northern German city, was "strongly suspected of having been planning an attack" using "highly explosive" materials.

The suspect was “in the process” of preparing the attack, the prosecutor’s office said. He had been planning since to "detonate a bomb in a crowd in Germany" with the goal of "killing and injuring as many as possible," public prosecutor Frauke Koehler said.

Police officers were seen at a housing complex where the suspect was arrested, and de Maiziere said searches were also carried out in Hamburg, where he said the suspect “spent a lot of time.”

During the raid, authorities also found a high explosive called acetone. The interior minister said this final ingredient indicated the suspect “most likely intended to make bombs.

A suspect taken into custody in the New York City vehicle attack that killed eight people  has been identified. He is from the capital city of Uzbekistan, entered the United States in 2010 through the so-called Diversity Visa Lottery, a special program started in 1995 that according to the State Department hands out about 55,000 visas per year to applicants, most of them from countries that don't send many émigrés to the United States.

He has since become a legal permanent resident and has lived  most recently in Paterson, New Jersey, with his wife and three children. He rented the vehicle used in the attack at a nearby Home Depot.

Regardless of his affiliation, the States should reverse his legal status from permanent resident and all rights associated with it to No body status, before starting the prosecution.

Kasie Hunt covered politics and Congress as a reporter for NBC News beginning in 2013. Before that, covered Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign for the Associated Press and wrote about the 2010 midterm elections for POLITICO. Earlier in her career, she covered the writing and passage of the Affordable Care Act as a health policy reporter at National Journal.

Her first job in journalism was as an intern in the NBC News political unit.
Hunt holds a bachelor's degree in international affairs from George Washington University and a master's degree in sociology from the University of Cambridge, where she was a member of St John's College.

She is on the question, doesn't move away from it, demand the answer and you can't avoid it. Ask Cruz, Walker ...etc

She may be the rising star of the Presidential Election dilemma of 2016.

As predicted by this Blogger a year ago, NBC News’s Capitol Hill correspondent Kasie Hunt has landed her own Sunday night show on MSNBC as the cable news network continues to expand its weekend programming.  Just a thought.
