Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, says he will not be seeking reelection in 2018. The move comes after a woman shared a series of private Facebook messages, in which Barton had asked her questions that were sexual in nature just a week after he apologized for sending a nude photo himself to another woman.
The woman, Kelly Canon told the Star-Telegram she had exchanged messages with Barton for several years, said that he "took it a step too far on rare occasions."
According to the Washington Post, the woman who received the nude photo from Barton had consensual sexual intercourse on two occasions and also recorded a phone conversation in which he threatened to call the Capitol Police if she revealed their correspondence.
Over time, she said, she became aware of and corresponded with multiple other women who engaged in relationships with Barton.

Supreme Court justices heard oral arguments in the most important digital privacy case in decades, involving whether it's constitutional for authorities to seize and search a person's cellphone records without warrant.
The case, Carpenter vs. USA, focuses on Timothy Carpenter, who was convicted of robbery after authorities used cell phone records to capture his location. Carpenter appealed the case a lower court's decision to affirm Carpenter's conviction and 116-year sentence.
The American Civil Liberties Union  has signed on to the case to defend what they see as key Fourth Amendment rights.
ACLU attorney Nathan Freed Wessler, said the records give the government a "time machine" that "upends the balance of power" between people and the government that the founding fathers never intended.
"We carry our cellphones everywhere we go," and a record of days, weeks or months of our cellphone location records can chart out the most private parts of our lives — where we go to the doctor, where we sleep at night and who we sleep with.

Matt Lauer  is an American television journalist. He was host of The Today Show and a contributor for Dateline NBC.

On November 29, 2017, NBC Chairman Andrew Lack terminated Lauer after a workplace colleague accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior.[3]

Some sources have said that the allegations were related to conduct that began at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and continued afterwards.[5]

We pump them up, we create fake images and the reality comes back knocking.

Simulator...

Image result for cell site simulators cartoon

New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Las Vegas are among scores of police departments across the country quietly using a highly secretive technology developed for the military that can track the whereabouts of suspects by using the signals constantly emitted by their cellphones.

Civil liberties and privacy groups are increasingly raising objections to the suitcase-sized devices known as StingRays or cell site simulators that can sweep up cellphone data from an entire neighborhood by mimicking cell towers.

Police can determine the location of a phone. Some versions of the technology can intercept texts and calls, or pull information stored on the phones.

In New York, use of the technology was virtually unknown to the public until last year when the New York Civil Liberties Union forced the disclosure of records showing the NYPD used the devices more than 1,000 times since 2008. That included cases in which the technology helped catch suspects in kidnappings, rapes, robberies, assaults and murders. It has even helped find missing people.

So, what is the problem?

On January 6, 1941, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt delivered a speech before Congress, articulating his vision for a postwar world founded on four basic human freedoms: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from want, and freedom from fear.
So remember those who don't have as much as you do. You have been lucky.

Republican Rep. Joe Barton of Texas is apologizing for a graphic image of himself that emerged on social media this week, confirming he took the picture and sent it to women with whom he was pursuing relationships.

"While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women," Barton, 68, admitted in a written statement. "Each was consensual.

Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgment during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down," the statement added. "This woman admitted that we had a consensual relationship," Barton said.

"When I ended that relationship, she threatened to publicly share my private photographs and intimate correspondence in retaliation."

Something is fishy here.

A woman accused of mailing potentially deadly homemade bombs to President Obama and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in 2016 was arrested, in part, due to cat hair, a cigarette box and an almost-destroyed shipping label bearing her address.
Julia Poff, 46, mailed the devices in October 2016, along with a third package that she sent to the Social Security Administration according to an indictment.

Investigators traced Poff to the package sent to Obama because of cat hair found under an address label. An FBI crime lab compared the hair to some from two of Poff’s cats and found it “microscopically consistent” with the hair of one of those animals.
A grand jury indicted her this month on six counts, including mailing injurious articles and transporting explosives with the intent to kill and injure.
At the hearing, a federal agent testified that Poff was angry with Abbott because she did not receive support from her ex-husband. Poff’s application for social security benefits was denied.

A New York City police officer was acquitted  of murder and manslaughter charges in the off-duty killing of an unarmed man who the officer said attacked him last year during a late-night traffic dispute in Brooklyn.
The officer, Wayne Isaacs, testified that he opened fire after the man, Delrawn Small, threatened to kill him and punched him at a stoplight in the Cypress Hills section of Brooklyn.
The surveillance video showed the victim approaching the officer's car but raised questions about the officer’s account of the confrontation.

The jury of five men and seven women deliberated over three days before deciding the government had not proved its case against Officer Isaacs.

Shared Feelings...

The Washington Post said eight women claimed Rose, who hosts the PBS interview program "Charlie Rose" made sexual advances towards them between the late 1990s to 2011. The women were between 21 and 37 at the time.
The accounts range from Rose putting his hands on their legs without permission to Rose walking around naked in front of them. He was also accused of groping one woman at a work party.
"It is essential that these women know I hear them and that I deeply apologize for my inappropriate behavior. I am greatly embarrassed. I have behaved insensitively at times, and I accept responsibility for that, though I do not believe that all of these allegations are accurate. I always felt that I was pursuing shared feelings, even though I now realize I was mistaken.
"I have learned a great deal as a result of these events, and I hope others will too.

A 12-year-old girl is spearheading a campaign to legalize medical marijuana across the whole country. Alexis Bortell said she and her family had no choice but to move from their Texas home to Colorado to treat her severe epilepsy. Now, her family and a handful of others are suing Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
"Ever since I've been on this cannabis, I've actually been seizure-free for – today it's 974 days, so we're coming up on 1,000. So I think that's pretty good," Alexis told CBS News.  Alexis had seizures every few days.
Her parents said epilepsy medications didn't work, and there was even talk of brain surgery. But this seems to tame the seizure monster: an oil made from marijuana taken twice a day.
Alexis hopes the lawsuit will make medical marijuana legal across the country.

Investors are too optimistic and taking on too much risk in this low volatile environment, setting the stock market up for a potential downfall.
"In a goldilocks scenario of low interest rates, abundant liquidity, stable growth and a focus on the 'good' Trump, investors continue to push asset prices, volatility and leverage to historical extremes," said Alain Bokobza, head of global asset allocation at Societe Generale.
"Yet, a low volatility carry environment with rather extreme positioning is a dangerous combination, which we recently likened to dancing on the rim of a volcano."
U.S. stocks have been on fire this year. The S&P 500 is up more than 15 percent in 2017, boosted by strong corporate earnings, expectations of a U.S. tax code overhaul and improving global economic conditions. Monetary policy — which has been a boon for stocks since the financial crisis — also remains loose compared with historical standards.

Reward...

A reward has climbed to $190,000 in the search for the killer of a veteran Baltimore police detective who was fatally shot in the head while on duty, the FBI said.

Det. Sean Suiter, a married father of five and an 18-year veteran with the Baltimore Police, was conducting a follow-up to a homicide investigation around 5 p.m. Wednesday when he saw a man engaging in suspicious activity, police said.

Suiter approached the man and was shot in the head shortly after, police said.
Suiter's partner was nearby and rushed over to render aid, police said.

This criminal must be caught immediately. Some one may have seen something, heard something or know whoever did this.   Just a thought.

The players are suspended indefinitely as UCLA reviews the situation, Coach Steve Alford said, adding they will not travel with the team and will not suit up for home games.
On Nov. 7, police arrived at their hotel to interview students and search bags and the team bus, and once the three suspects were identified, they were escorted to a police station.
On Nov. 8, the students were released on bail and surrendered their passports......

The American Heart Association has changed the definition of hypertension from 140/90 to the newly revised 130/80.
It will also disproportionately affect younger people by tripling the number of men under 45 and doubling the number of women under 45 with the diagnosis.
Medication will be recommended for patients with previous cardiovascular events, such as heart attack, or significant cardiovascular risk factors determined by factors such as age, blood tests and having other medical conditions that increase risk of heart attack.
The study authors recommend lifestyle changes, including exercise, diet modifications and weight loss, as the first step to reducing high blood pressure.

A 26-year-old Uber driver said a prosecutor hit him, belittled him and threatened him during a ride.
Jody Warner worked as a prosecutor for the Dallas County District Attorney's Office until Monday. The incident that led to her dismissal happened after Shaun Platt picked her up outside a Dallas pub.

Driver said she was drunk, and he refused to continue driving her home when she wouldn't give him directions.  He recorded some of their conversation.
District Attorney Faith Johnson contacted Uber's driver and apologized to him for Warner's actions. Johnson later said, after reviewing and investigating, Warner's conduct was counter to the department's core principle of integrity, and it won't be tolerated. A bad day.

Robert Mueller is reportedly probing whether Michael Flynn was involved in an alleged scheme to essentially kidnap a Turkish cleric living in Pennsylvania and transport him to Turkey, to be paid up to $15 million.
Flynn Intel Group Inc. was paid $530,000 for lobbying for a Dutch company owned by a Turkish businessman, work could help the interests of the Turkish government.
On Election Day, Flynn wrote an opinion piece in The Hill,  in which he accused Gulen of being a "radical Islamist" and a potential terrorist.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that in the discussions concerning Gulen, Flynn was ready to push for the extradition of Gulen from within the White House.
The reclusive Gulen has lived in the Poconos in a gated retreat for the last 17 years. His movement has founded charter schools throughout the U.S. He has never visited any of them and is never seen in public. Instead, he addresses his followers online.
Just allegation.

Incentives...

Image result for obama's war cartoon

A State Department official confirms to ABC News that the department is offering "voluntary buyouts and early retirement incentives" as part of its effort to reduce its own ranks.

The Trump administration wants to get rid of 641 employees -- in addition to "normal attrition" -- by the end of 2018, in particular "to reduce unnecessary supervisory levels and organizational layering," the official said.
"The Department's goal is to meet its workforce reduction targets through the use of voluntary measures.

The agency has also frozen all new hiring and any promotions in an effort to limit the number of employees.

The news comes after a scathing letter from the Foreign Service union's president, questioning why the administration was depleting the diplomatic corps' ranks.

We do not need to start additional war in the middle east. We should leave Iraq-Syria and Libya alone. The advise given to start the wars in Iraq, Syria, and Libya were wrong all the way. Millions have died, millions are refugees, and millions are injured. Life in most areas have been destroyed.
