On behalf of the Houston Police Department, I want to extend an apology to Mr. Grant and his family as they have waited for justice all these years,” Acevedo said in a statement.

Grant has served seven years of a life sentence.  Authorities now believe 41-year-old Jermarico Carter is the killer.
 Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said there is “substantial new evidence that points toward a person of interest,” but authorities are “not there yet” in concluding that this new suspect was responsible for the killing.
“The highest responsibility of a prosecutor is to see that justice is done and insuring that we have the correct individual charged is a baseline responsibility,” Ogg said in a statement.

It is billed as an easy and secure way to chat by video or text message with friends and family, even in a country that has restricted popular messaging services like WhatsApp and Skype.
But the service, ToTok, is actually a spying tool, according to American officials familiar with a classified intelligence assessment. It is used by the government of the United Arab Emirates to try to track every conversation, movement, relationship, appointment, sound and image of those who install it on their phones.
ToTok, introduced only months ago, was downloaded millions of times from the Apple and Google app stores by users throughout the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. While the majority of its users are in the Emirates, ToTok surged to become one of the most downloaded social apps in the United States.
ToTok amounts to the latest escalation in a digital arms race among wealthy authoritarian governments and other wealthy government.

Logic...

A former contractor for Siemens concocted a remedy for that—plant logic bombs in projects he designed that caused them to periodically malfunction. Then wait for a call to come fix things.
David A. Tinley, a 62-year-old from Harrison City, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to six months in prison and a fine of $7,500 in the scheme. The sentence came five months after he pleaded guilty to a charge of intentional damage to a protected computer. Tinley was a contract employee for Siemens Corporation at its Monroeville, Pennsylvania, location.
The logic bombs Tinley surreptitiously planted into his projects caused them to malfunction after a certain preset amount of time. The scheme ran from 2014 to 2016.
Tinley will be under supervised release for two years following his prison term. He will also pay restitution. The parties in the case stipulated a total loss amount of $42,262.50. Tinley faced as much as 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Authorities near Cincinnati are warning residents about a fake kidnapping scam circulating through the area.
The scam involves a phone call from a random number that, when answered, features the voice of a panicked child saying "They have me" and "I'm in a white van," according to the sheriff's office.
The Boone County Sheriff's Office advises parents who become targets of the "virtual kidnapping ransom scam" to take immediate steps to verify the whereabouts of their child and to check social media privacy settings to make sure sensitive information that can be used against them can not be viewed by the public.

President Donald Trump, the first modern president to face impeachment during his first term in the White House, now leads his top Democratic rivals in his bid for a second, a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds.

The national survey, taken as the House of Representatives planned an impeachment vote and the Senate a trial, showed Trump defeating former Vice President Joe Biden by 3 percentage points, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by 5 points, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren by 8 points.

In hypothetical head-to-head contests, Trump also led South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg by 10 points and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg by 9.

Comment:

If Trump wins the election again, and continues to be the President of the United States, what would the Democratic party look like then?

If Trump is impeached and then the stock market took a dive and the pension for teachers, policemen,  etc. and mutual funds deteriorates, What would the Dems do?

Just a thought.

Delta flight attendants say that they've experienced a variety of health problems in the past 18 months, problems they suspect have been caused by toxic chemicals in their new uniforms. They also say that the airline has failed to address the issues consistently or adequately.
Employees at other airlines, including Alaska and American, have had similar complaints in recent years.

The Association of Flight Attendants, which has been at the center of an organizing drive among Delta's nonunionized cabin-crew employees, says that poor quality control in the global supply chain that produces the uniforms  often treated to be stain-, wrinkle-, and flame-resistant can contain a dangerous amount of chemicals such as formaldehyde and heavy metals.

Business Insider spoke with six flight attendants, three of whom spoke on the record to say they've suffered from hives and respiratory issues and may have compromised their immune systems.

The flight attendants requested anonymity out of fear of retribution from their employer. They say that they've had trouble getting support from Delta.

Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is the 45th and current president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality.

T
rump entered the 2016 presidential race as a Republican and defeated 16 other candidates in the primariesHis political positions have been described as populistprotectionist, and nationalist. Despite being disfavored in most forecasts, he was elected in a surprise victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. He became the oldest first-term U.S. President.

Five large secrets that most of the American media are afraid to utter :

  • The American economy is growing in a way that is directly helpful to the most vulnerable segments of society;
  • The administration’s trade policy is clearly working
  • The flow of illegal immigrants is sharply diminishing;
  • and that for the first time in 65 years, the United States has practically ceased to be a net oil importer.
  • He didn't start a new war.

These were all promises of the Trump candidacy, and the first three were areas where previous administrations had promised action but failed to deliver.
