Michael Bloomberg is preparing to enter the 2020 presidential race as a Democrat, the New York Times reported Thursday.
The former New York City mayor and billionaire is expected to file paperwork to declare himself a candidate in states with early filing deadlines this week, a Bloomberg spokesman told CNN. He has dispatched staffers to Alabama, one of the states with an early filing deadline, to collect signatures so that he can qualify for its primary, according to the Times.
The current candidates are really out of touch.

Independent panel of advisers to the Food and Drug Administration recommended last week that a medication to prevent preterm birth be taken off the market because, the advisers decided, the preponderance of evidence suggests it doesn't work. But some other leading OB-GYNs say they hope the FDA won't take the panel's advice this time.
The medication is a synthetic form of the hormone progesterone, brand-named Makena.

The medication was fast-tracked through the FDA approval process, with one major caveat: Makena's manufacturer was required to do a larger follow-up study to confirm the drug's benefit.
The follow-up study, published in late October, found Makena "did not decrease recurrent preterm births.

Three people were shot by a man on a bicycle in the Bronx Sunday afternoon.
The male suspect was riding a bicycle around 4 p.m. on East 166 Street and College Avenue in Concourse Village when he opened fire, cops said.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left leg, a 26-year-old woman was shot in the right knee, and a bullet grazed the left arm of a 26-year-old man, cops added.
The suspect, dressed in a black hoodie, abandoned his bicycle and fled on foot, police said.
It wasn’t clear whether the three victims were the intended targets or whether any of those involved knew each other, cops said.

It use to be black Cadillac or dark  SUV and shots fired. Now someone on a bicycle. What a shame.

The amount of sodium per serving is listed in milligrams or mg.  The total sodium shown on the Nutrition Facts label includes the sodium from salt, plus any other sodium-containing ingredient in the product. For example, this includes ingredients like sodium nitrate, sodium citrate, monosodium glutamate (MSG) or sodium benzoate.
Remember to take note of the serving size on the Nutrition Facts label. If your portion size equals two servings of a product, you’re actually eating double the sodium listed.
The American Heart Association recommends no more than 2,300 milligrams (mg) a day and moving toward an ideal limit of no more than 1,500 mg per day for most adults.

The average American eats so much excess sodium, even cutting back by 1,000 milligrams a day can significantly improve blood pressure and heart health.

More than 70 percent of the sodium Americans eat comes from packaged, prepared and restaurant foods, not the salt shaker.

On average, Americans eat more than 3,400 milligrams of sodium each day — much more than the American Heart Association and other health organizations recommend.

The American Heart Association diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, plant-based protein, lean animal protein and fish. Replace processed meats, refined carbohydrates and sweetened beverages with healthier options. Eating this way should help you limit your sodium as well as harmful fats.
