Mis-Remember...

We exaggerate our memories. The fact that often we ‘mis-remember’ past experiences can place us in more difficulties.

We tend to remember ‘good’ things being better than they actually were. And we tend to remember ‘bad’ things being worse than they actually were. We exaggerate our memories. 

The way this plays into men thinking that women will bring them happiness is quite simple: we tend to have overly positive recollections of the good times we shared with women in the past. You remember something like going on an exotic vacation or decorating a new apartment with an ex-girlfriend, and it seems like that was one

of your happiest moments ever. 

In reality, it was probably a good time, but most likely you didn’t think it was ‘heaven-on-earth’ while it actually was happening.

Another big idea is the fact that we romanticize the future, just as we do the past. And this feeds into the false belief that women will bring us happiness for the same reasons that ‘mis-remembering’ the past does.

The danger here is that we’re prone to incorrectly believing that finding a girlfriend or having one will be the best thing ever and make us oh-so-happy for ever and ever.

Seul Ki Yum, of Olympia in Washington, spent three years picking out her targets on Tinder, OK Cupid and Seeking Arrangements before blackmailing them to pay for rent, laptops and designer handbags.

The 26-year-old would tell the men she slept with that she had become pregnant and demanded that they pay for purported abortions or she would expose them to family members and future partners.

In one instance, Yum acquired a naked image of one of her victims and sent it to his future girlfriend and wife-to-be when the man failed to pay the demanded sum.

In another, after meeting a married California wine dealer, Yum received $10,000 a month from the victim for over two years so that she would not tell his wife.

After one of her seven victims approached the police, the FBI arranged for the man to wear a wire to record their conversation during an exchange for $5,000, which eventually led to Yum's arrest.

She pleaded guilty to five counts of extortion.

Yum faced the prospect of a lengthy period behind bars, but prosecutors agreed to an "exceptionally low" sentence of 30 days imprisonment given it was her first offence, her remorse and her cooperation with police authorities in their investigation.

"I am very ashamed and very embarrassed of my behaviour," she told Judge Lori K Smith, reported the Seattle Pi.

“For 23 years, I was a jailhouse lawyer,” said Calvin Duncan, a former inmate at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola. “That was my assigned job.”

He had a 10th-grade education, and he was serving a life sentence for murder. The prison paid him 20 cents an hour to help his fellow prisoners with their cases.

He got good at it, and he used his increasingly formidable legal skills to help free several inmates. He knew how to spot a promising legal issue, and he was relentless. Seasoned lawyers sought his advice.

One issue in particular consumed Mr. Duncan. He could not understand how a Louisiana law that allowed non-unanimous juries in criminal cases could be constitutional. He would not let it go, working on about two dozen failed attempts to persuade the Supreme Court to address the issue.

Last year, Louisiana’s voters amended the State Constitution to require unanimity, though only for crimes committed after 2018. In April, The Advocate newspaper in Baton Rouge won a Pulitzer Prize for a series of articles on the subject.

At the edge of the ancient pyramids of Giza, some 5,000 construction workers labor around the clock to finish the long-awaited GrandEgyptian Museum. Expected to open by the end of this year, the 5.2-million-square-foot structure will become the world's largest museum devoted to a single civilization.

A now-deleted Twitter account that appears to belong to the Dayton shooter Connor Betts suggests the 24-year-old was a Democrat-supporting, gun-loving Satanist.

Betts was known as a violent misogynist who once as a high school student compiled a list of girls to rape.

Police in Ohio are still searching for a motive as to why Betts shot and killed nine people, including his own sister, and injured 27 others at the Ned Peppers Bar on Sunday night.

His twitter account also expressed support for Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a candidate in the Democratic Party's 2020 primary, and had previously urged people to "vote blue."

One other tweet read: "I want socialism, and i'll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding."

For their "Great Female Survey," women answered many questions on sex, career, relationships, online behavior and money. Here are some

70 percent of women said they wanted children someday, compared to the 12 percent who said "No way."  A third of women want to start a family in their late 20s, while 23 percent would like to start popping out kids in their early 20s.

A beautiful house is the ultimate status symbol. Forget the Harvard degree, the Prada bag and the Benz. Forty-one percent of women favored a beautiful house.   26 percent said that a successful husband or boyfriend would be the ultimate status symbol.

Women still believe in marriage. Eighty-three percent gave a resounding "yes!" when asked whether they had faith in the institution.

More than half of women believe that men appreciate boobs above all other physicial attributes. About one in four women said that the butt is most important, while about 15 percent think that men are most attracted to nice legs.

Sixty-three percent of women have never lied about their number of sex partners, while just one in three women has ever faked an orgasm.

A whopping eighty-seven percent said that they would never cheat on their boyfriends, even if there were no chance that he would ever find out. Forty-one percent of women haven't slept with a coworker, but they would if the opportunity presented itself.

The ultimate man's drink is ... good old-fashioned beer. Whisky came in second.  Men age like fine wine until they hit middle age. About one in three women claim that men start losing their looks at age 50.

To Err...

A man who was mistakenly circumcised in a hospital mix-up has been awarded compensation, the hospital said.

Terry Brazier, aged 70, went into Leicester Royal Infirmary for a bladder procedure known as a cystoscopy but was mistaken for another patient by hospital staff and circumcised.

The hospital apologized and carried out an investigation, before confirming on Monday it had awarded Brazier a £20,000.

Brazier told the British newspaper the Daily Star that he was so distracted talking to hospital staff that he didn't notice he was getting the incorrect procedure until it was too late.

That was crule and unusual punishment for a mature man.

Knowing that life is half over can cause some people to have a sort of crisis as they compare the place they thought they’d be with the place they are.  This often leads to certain behavior changes and shifts in goals..

Depression is a common feeling when in the throes of a mid-life crisis.  In this sense, it can be harmful to a person’s psyche and result in unhealthy behaviors. It’s easy to get caught in self-defeating thoughts and spiral downward, but this is not inevitable.  

In fact, a mid-life crisis need only be a crisis by name.  For some people, this time period can result in a push to engage in healthy behaviors.  Some people may start going to the gym, spending more time with family members, or even volunteer their time.  People respond differently to crises and therefore every person’s mid-life crisis will have different outcomes.
