Thousands of commuters were stranded outside the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, the busiest bus station in the country, after more than 1,100 scheduled buses were canceled. The line of people stretched a full city block.
The upper level of the George Washington Bridge — one of the busiest bridges in the world — turned into a parking lot after an icy 20-vehicle crash, with drivers abandoning their cars.
The New York region was all but paralyzed by an early winter storm that led to recriminations and second-guessing Friday about what exactly went wrong. Even grizzled commuters said they had never endured such a meltdown, venting their fury at those in charge of running buses and trains and clearing highways.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said that plows and salt spreaders would be out all night to clear roads before the morning commute. “First storm of the year hit hard and right at rush hour, downing trees and causing delays.

The Throne Hall
The new Capital of Egypt is being built on 170,000 acres about 28 miles east of Cairo and nearly twice its size. Construction began in 2016, and the first of its forecast 6.5 million residents are scheduled to move there next year. Cairo is already bursting at the seams and will grow to 40 million by 2050.

The new city will house the presidency, Cabinet, parliament and ministries. Planners promise a 21-mile-long public park, an airport, an opera house, a sports complex and 20 skyscrapers, including Africa's highest, at 345 meters.
Many government buildings in Cairo, for example, are palaces and mansions confiscated by the socialist government of the 1950s and 1960s. In theory, they could be renovated and turned into museums or hotels, proponents argue. But then, many such empty architectural treasures are already left to fall apart or even torn down.

The number of fires Cal Fire has responded to since January—7,000—is fairly average, but the size and ferocity is astonishing. So far in 2018, those fires have scorched an unprecedented 1.3 million acres—five times the five-year average.

Michael Avenatti has been arrested for domestic violence, police said. Avenatti was booked on a charge of domestic violence with injuries, according to booking records obtained by ABC Station KABC.
The alleged domestic violence incident could dash Avenatti's prospects as a potential insurgent Democratic candidate and clash with the image he has presented of himself as an advocate for women.
Avenatti and his client Julie Swetnick, who alleged in a sworn affidavit that she was gang-raped at a 1982 party attended by Brett M. Kavanaugh, have been referred to the Justice Department for a potential criminal probe.

The Vermont Democratic Party canceled Avenatti's appearances for Friday and Saturday following his arrest, and it will refund all ticket sales, said Christopher Di Mezzo, the party's communications director.
So all the credentials needed is to be anti Trump? Good Going.

The House of Representatives voted to block the passage of a bill that would have ended U.S. military support for the Saudi-led coalition fighting Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The conflict pits the Yemeni government, powered by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, against rebels known as the Houthis, that are aligned with Iran

The conflict stretches nearly four years, killing at  least 16,200 civilians, and bringing 14 million people to the brink of famine.

The U.S. has provided military support for the Saudis and Emiratis since the Obama administration,  the Saudis announced that the U.S. will no longer provide midair refueling for their aircraft. The coalition has been accused of war crimes for indiscriminately targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The Pentagon said it provides refueling for only 20 percent of coalition warplanes, and the U.S. continues to provide other support, such as intelligence, reconnaissance and arms sales.

So with all this bombing on a small group, what is the goal?

The Trump administration has sanctioned 17 Saudi officials for their alleged involvement in the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, the first economic penalties from the U.S. over the brutal murder that has spawned a diplomatic crisis.

The 17 individuals, the U.S said, are the 15-man hit squad that traveled to Turkey to carry out the operation, the Saudi consul general in Istanbul, Turkey, where the killing took place, and a senior adviser to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The Saudi government at first denied, then called an accident, before labeling it a rogue operation

The Saudis have maintained that it was this small group of officials who are solely responsible for Khashoggi's murder, admitting that the killers drugged and killed the writer and critic of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman inside the consulate, before dismembering his body and handing it over for disposal by an unidentified local collaborator. The body still has not been found.
