Pharmaceutical company Pfizer said in a statement that CEO Ian Read had agreed to "defer the company's price increases that were effective on July 1 to give the president an opportunity to work on his blueprint to strengthen the healthcare system." President Trump tweeted Tuesday that Pfizer is "rolling back price hikes, so American patients don't pay more." 

Pfizer says it will "return these prices to their pre-July 1 levels as soon as technically possible."

Mr. Trump complained about the price increases on Twitter Monday, writing: "Pfizer & others should be ashamed that they have raised drug prices for no reason. They are merely taking advantage of the poor & others unable to defend themselves."

Washington's 25 percent duties went into effect and affected products such as water boilers, X-ray machine components, airplane tires and various other industrial parts. 

China immediately implemented retaliatory tariffs on its $34 billion list of goods issued last month, including soybeans, pork and electric vehicles. Beijing called it the "biggest trade war in economic history."

The amount of tariff will not do much in the global picture. Companies will adjust to the price increase. Consumers will react to these tariff and the whole import export will slightly change as they do all the time.

Prices do change based on supply and demand all the time. Consumer may change their habits of buying, or look for alternatives, and the outcome will be muted.

As NATO allies convene, one issue to discuss is immigration — even though illegal border crossings are decreasing on both sides of the Atlantic.

The separation of families at the U.S.-Mexico border and Italy's refusal to let shipwrecked migrants disembark in its ports illustrate the hardening positions on border control in Washington and European capitals.

Lost in the heated political debate is the fact that migrant arrivals in Europe across the Mediterranean from Africa and Turkey are at their lowest level in five years, while arrests on the U.S.-Mexico border — an imperfect but widely used gauge of illegal crossings are far below levels seen two decades ago.
