Detested...

Image result for fake welfare recipient cartoon

At the beginning of 2016, North Carolina called for drug tests for welfare recipients.  The results revealed that of 89 people who were picked for the test, 21 tested hot with drugs in their system.

However,   70 other people were called in and did not show up for the drug test at all.  These no-shows were also barred from receiving benefits.

Because of the large number of those who failed or did not show up, the state of North Carolina is requiring ALL those wishing to apply for the Work First program be tested for drugs. This requirement seems to be common sense and should be done in every state. Just a thought.

No More...*

Image result for hyatt no longer provide the porn film service

Hyatt Hotels will no longer offer on-demand pornographic movies in its rooms. Hyatt is just the latest hotel company to ban on-demand adult entertainment from its rooms.

Marriott hotels ended the practice of offering adult video on demand several years ago. The company's chairman, Bill Marriott, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, told The Associated Press in 2012 that not only was the church "very, very opposed to pornography," but that demand for the movies had "gone way down".

On the other hand, Playboy magazine is to stop publishing images of naked women as part of its redesign, it has emerged.    The internet has made nudity outdated, and pornographic magazines are no longer so commercially viable.  However, the magazine will still feature women in provocative poses  though not fully nude.

What the world coming to. Just a thought.

Two Boston police officers are being praised for coming to the aid of veteran after a city bus driver sought help with a rider holding a hatchet to his neck and threatening to kill himself.

Capt. Haseeb Hosein was working a construction detail when the driver got his attention. Hosein called for back-up, boarded the bus and started talking to the troubled passenger.

Another officer, patrol officer David Godin, joined in the effort to talk the man out of killing himself, according to the station.

When he opened up and told them he was a veteran, Godin said: "Thank you for your service."
At those simple words, the man dropped the hatchet and eventually walked off the bus to a waiting ambulance.
"The goal on a call like this is for everyone to go home safe and, thankfully, today everybody did," police said in a statement.    Just a thought.

Shelter...

It’s a common reaction.
“People are concerned about an institutional structure [Homeless shelter] coming into a residential neighborhood. They’re concerned about what the impact is going to be on the resources that may already be scarce.

Quality of life and real estate value are the two issues in mind.
Resolve this complexity and all would welcome a shelter.
This is why.  Just a thought.

One Pilot...*

A lawsuit filed relates to a New York-to-Las Vegas JetBlue flight on March 27, 2012, in which the pilot, Clayton Osbon, told his co-pilot that “we need to take a leap of faith” and that “we’re not going to Vegas,” among other bizarre actions, according to federal investigators.

The co-pilot locked Mr. Osbon out of the cockpit and diverted the flight to Texas, where federal authorities charged Mr. Osbon with interfering with the flight crew.
A federal judge in Texas found Mr. Osbon, 52 y.o., not guilty by reason of insanity.

The suit claims breach of contract and negligence by JetBlue for allowing him to fly on the day of the incident despite evidence that he was suffering from mental-health issues. He is seeking more than $14 million from JetBlue.

Mr. Osbon said in the filing that he suffered from a “complex partial brain seizure” and that his actions before the flight—including missing the preflight meeting and struggling to complete the preflight checklist—should have made clear he was mentally unfit to fly.

Good Luck with that.!!!!!!   Just a thought.
