At the beginning of 2016, North Carolina called for drug tests for welfare recipients. The results revealed that of 89 people who were picked for the test, 21 tested hot with drugs in their system.
However, 70 other people were called in and did not show up for the drug test at all. These no-shows were also barred from receiving benefits.
Because of the large number of those who failed or did not show up, the state of North Carolina is requiring ALL those wishing to apply for the Work First program be tested for drugs. This requirement seems to be common sense and should be done in every state. Just a thought.
