"Historic storms are no longer historic to us. That's become a way of life in our state and that's a result of Climate Change," Hochul said. "All of us, in state and county-level government, know we have to prepare for the next big one.

The Biden administration is reportedly working to curb Iran’s ability to deliver drones to Russian troops for use in Ukraine by expanding efforts to choke Tehran’s production of the unmanned aerial vehicles.

The New York Times reported on the expanded push Wednesday, citing unnamed intelligence, military and national security officials. The administration is focusing on depriving Iran of the parts it needs to produce the drones.

Adrienne Watson, a spokeswoman for the National Security Council, told the newspaper officials are “looking at ways to target” Iranian drone production “through sanctions, export controls, and talking to private companies whose parts have been used in the production.”

The U.S. is also helping Ukrainian defenders target sites where drones are being launched and providing equipment to detect the drones early after launch, according to the Times.

Who are we helping? The Ukranian war is creating chaos for the Ukraine where millions fled their homes, and businesses deteriorated. Poor countries worldwide are struggling with energy shortage like oil, going back to coal, food shortage, higher prices, Inflation, and the associated curbing of economic development

What for? What is the end game? More war?  Just a thought.

NSAID..

A recent study found that taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such ibuprofen or naproxen for joint pain due to osteoarthritis may actually increase inflammation.

All participants in the study had an MRI of the knee, initially and during a four-year follow-up, to track cartilage thickness, composition, and other measurements to evaluate arthritis progression.

The scientists found that long-term use of NSAIDs had no benefit, and joint inflammation and cartilage quality were worse at a four-year follow-up, compared to the control group.

“In this large group of participants, we were able to show that there were no protective mechanisms from NSAIDs in reducing inflammation or slowing down the progression of osteoarthritis of the knee joint.

Athos Salomé is a self-proclaimed ‘Parapsychologist’ and ‘psychic’ has previously correctly predicted the World Cup finals held in Qatar this year. Along with this, he predicted world events such as the Covid pandemic, the invasion of Ukraine and the death of The Queen.

Now in his latest prophecy, Salomé, who has been popularly dubbed ‘Living Nostradamus,’ after the universally known French astrologer, has some not-so-great news to deliver about the new year 2023.

As reported by The Irish Sunin his latest prediction, Salomé warns people that there would be a new pandemic that cripples the globe. The cause of this pandemic is lurking beneath the layers of ice in Antarctica.

This was Covid-19 already.  Just " a past prediction" thought.

Developing..

The US has risked alienating developing countries hit hardest by the climate crisis, after Congress delivered just a fraction of the money promised by Joe Biden to help poorer nations adapt to worsening storms, floods and droughts.

Biden has promised $11.4bn each year for developing countries to ease climate impacts and help them shift to renewable energy but the vast $1.7tn spending bill to keep the US government running, passed by the Senate on Thursday, includes less than $1bn in climate assistance for these countries.
While pouring gas into the fire to the Ukraine war, US and EU gave
80 billion dollars to have the war continue, creating inflation of energy, recession in many countries, shortage of food among other problems.

Madness..

Biden has faced pressure from within his own administration, as well as his political opponents, in securing the release of basketball player from Russia, according to reports.

Biden hailed the “intense and painstaking negotiations” that led to the release of Griner in a prisoner swap deal with the arms dealer Viktor Bout. Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport in February for possession of cannabis oil, while Bout, nicknamed ‘the merchant of death’, was serving a 25-year sentence in federal prison for fueling conflicts in Africa and the Middle East.

large discrepancy between these two offenses led the US Department of Justice to believe the prisoner swap was a mistake.  “Trading a notorious international arms dealer for a basketball player is madness.

Leaking..

President Joe Biden has tapped Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the White House effort to tackle the migration challenge at the U.S. southern border and work with Central American nations to address root causes of the problem.
Nothing of value this lady did for the southers States.
Three busloads of migrants arrived outside the Naval Observatory, the vice president’s official residence, on Saturday, when temperatures were in the teens. Video captured by a reporter from the outlet showed groups of migrants wrapped in blankets.
The incident was the latest salvo in a months-long effort by Abbott and other Republican governors to urge the Biden administration to bolster its immigration policy and wasn’t the first time migrants have been sent to the vice president’s home. But it will likely intensify the feud over immigration, especially as Title 42 hangs in the balance.
Can't hide from Christmas gifts.  Just a thought.

Shi..

Shi Yi, the spokesman for the PLA’s Eastern Theater Command, in a statement announced that the PLA was holding joint combat patrols and joint strike drills in the waters around Taiwan.

Shi was referring to the U.S. defense spending bill, which calls China a strategic challenge. With regard to the Indo-Pacific region, the legislation authorizes increased security cooperation with Taiwan and requires expanded cooperation with India on emerging defense technologies, readiness and logistics.

China’s military has often used large military exercises as a demonstration of force in response to U.S. government actions in support of Taiwan.

It conducted large live-fire military exercises in August in response to U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan. Beijing views visits from foreign governments to the island as de facto recognition of the island as independent and a challenge to China’s claim of sovereignty.

Imitating the US or Just toying with the US. Just a thought.

Anew..

A new bill passed in Scotland made it the first region of the United Kingdom to approve a self-identification process for changing gender, including removing the need for a medical diagnosis of gender dysphoria and lowering the minimum age to 16 from 18.
Home women's rights campaigners have argued the changes could pose a threat to the safety of women and girls by making it easier for predatory men to access single-sex spaces such as bathrooms.
Supporters of the bill, however, said the reforms benefit transgender people and pose no threat to women's rights.

The Wall..

In 2023, Greece plans to triple the length of a steel border wall. The five-meter (16-foot) high structure, made with sturdy steel columns, has foundation supports up to 10 meters deep and is topped with razor wire and an anti-grip metal scaling barrier.

In a post-pandemic surge of activity, more than 250,000 migrant crossings have been prevented this year at the land border between Greece and Turkey through late November, according to Greek authorities. During the same period, more than 5,000 people were detained after making it across the river.

Border guards, who use sniffer dogs, loudspeakers and powerful spotlights on patrols, say multiple incidents involving up to 1,000 migrants aren’t uncommon in a single day during the summer and early fall when water levels along the Evros hit an annual low.

Salami Slicing..

The United States must stop its “old routine of unilateral bullying”, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has told US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a telephone call.

Wang on Friday accused the US of trying to suppress China’s development. Washington must pay attention to Beijing’s legitimate concerns, he said, warning the US against trying to challenge China’s red lines using “salami slicing” tactics.

He was referring to the practice of using a series of small actions to achieve a much larger result that would be difficult to accomplish with a single large action.

The remarks by Wang underscored the deep tensions that mark relations between the world’s two largest economies, even as their leaders have tried to re-engage in diplomacy in recent weeks.  Just a "red Line" thought.

Embarrassing..

According to a report from ESPN, there was a very low turnout at a welcome home party for the longtime WNBA star.
"BRITTNEY GRINER'S HOMECOMING was celebrated Monday night in front of 20 people at University Baptist Church in Waco. Baylor is on winter break. The church livestreamed the event," ESPN reported.
"Apparently there was a homecoming celebration for Britney Griner in Waco and only 20 people showed up," Tyler Zed tweeted. "Talk about embarrassing."
Wonder why?
Griner’s lifestyle as an openly gay woman in a town that holds onto “traditional” Christian values could have caused the lack of participation. Additionally, she was arrested in Russia for having cannabis vape cartridges in her bag and was released before other American prisoners.  Just a thought.

Lawyer Kelly Conlon is an associate with the New Jersey based law firm, Davis, Saperstein and Solomon, which for years has been involved in personal injury litigation against a restaurant venue now under the umbrella of MSG Entertainment.

MSG instituted a straightforward policy that precludes attorneys pursuing active litigation against the Company from attending events at our venues until that litigation has been resolved.

While we understand this policy is disappointing to some, we cannot ignore the fact that litigation creates an inherently adverse environment. All impacted attorneys were notified of the policy, including Davis, Saperstein and Salomon, which was notified twice," a spokesperson for MSG Entertainment said in a statement.

She was identified through facial recognition.

It could be possible to spot signs of dementia up to nine years before diagnosis, a new study has found.

“The impairments were often subtle, but across a number of aspects of cognition. This is a step being able to screen people who are at greatest risk - for example, people over 50 or those who have high blood pressure or do not do enough exercise - and intervene at an earlier stage to help them reduce their risk.

For the study, researchers analysed data from the UK Biobank database and pinpointed problem solving and number recall as two of the early signs patients could develop dementia.

“It is increasingly clear that the best chance to affect the course of the diseases which cause dementia lies in intervening at their earliest stages.

Kylian..

Kylian Mbappe is a World Cup heavyweight. The young Frenchman has quite the knack of playing his best football on the biggest stage.

He became the second player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final when he almost single-handedly dragged France back into the contest (twice) against Argentina

Unfortunately, this time, it wasn’t to be for the 23-year-old.

Mbappe will be back, though. With 12 World Cup finals goals, the record of all-time top scorer, 16 goals set by Miroslav Klose, will be the next milestone in his sights.

Timid..

G-7 nations agreed to impose a limit on Russian oil in September, and have been working on the details ever since. At the time, the EU's energy chief, Kadri Simson, she was hoping China and India would support the price cap, too.

Both nations stepped up their purchases of Russian oil following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, benefiting from discounted rates. Their participation is seen as essential if the restrictions on Russian oil are to work.
India's petroleum minister, Shri Hardeep S Puri, said he has a "moral duty" to his country's consumers. "We will buy oil from Russia, we will buy from wherever," he added.
As such, there are growing doubts about the true impact of the restrictions on Russia.
 Just a thought.

Pre-Emptive..

Russian military scientists have proposed a pre-emptive strike using manned and unmanned aircraft to counter the United States' multidomain war-fighting strategy against adversaries, according to excerpts cited in an Armed Forces academic journal.
The Russian Aerospace Force academics describe the Pentagon’s air, land, sea, cyber and space integration strategy to paralyze an enemy, known as multi-domain operations, as an existential threat to Russia’s national security.
The scientists propose countering the U.S. strategy with a comprehensive air operation to disrupt its integrated massive air strike “by causing intolerable damage to the enemy.”
Russian forces would need to strike critical NATO targets with aircraft, drones, missiles, electronic warfare and new hypersonic weapons to prevent them from attacking first, according to the military scientists’ academic paper.

Pots..

Research published has confirmed a link between a Covid infection and a debilitating heart condition called POTS, or postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, that has been diagnosed in some patients with long Covid.

The findings, published in the journal Nature Cardiovascular Research, are in line with earlier reports from physicians that Covid may trigger POTS, a disorder of the autonomic nervous system often characterized by a rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, fainting and lightheadedness.

While the researchers found a small but increased risk of POTS following Covid vaccination and, in particular, the first dose, the risk was greater following a Covid infection itself: Getting Covid was linked to a five times greater risk of POTS than vaccination.

Day One, this President promised to stop the Wall progress, cancell all Trump action to protect the South borders.
Two years waste in non-sense, and now they trying to complete the wall and the parts that they stopped earlier.  Just a "Progressive" thought.

Rebuilding..

The Biden administration announced Tuesday that it will work to close gaps in the physical barriers along the southwest border and fix environmental and other issues with the Trump-era wall construction amid growing concerns about the federal government's ability to handle high levels of unauthorized migration.

Officials said the latest work, authorized by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, will focus on Arizona, California and Texas and is aimed at addressing safety and environmental concerns brought on by the building of new or upgraded barriers along the border with Mexico.

Installing drainage systems, adding safety features to roadways and remediating some construction sites will take place in various areas between San Diego and El Paso, Texas. The work will also include closing gaps between incomplete sections of barrier and finishing access gates used by Border Patrol.

  Just a "reverse decision" thought.

Vit. D..

a new study published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: The Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association, researchers examined vitamin D in brain tissue.

They found that higher levels of the vitamin were associated with better cognitive function, a stronger memory and a slower progression of cognitive decline.

This study marked the first-time vitamin D levels were studied in brain tissue according to the authors, a timely study as experts estimates those living with dementia will surmount 150 million globally by 2050.

“This research reinforces the importance of studying how food and nutrients create resilience to protect the aging brain against diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias,” says Sarah Booth, an author on the study and director of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University.
