One Down...

A federal judge on Tuesday temporarily blocked President Biden’s attempt to put a moratorium on deportations for 100 days.

After Texas sued over the policy, the judge blocked Biden, via a temporary restraining order, from moving forward for 14 days.

Texas’ lawsuit claims that the administration would be violating an agreement it has with the Department of Homeland Security – and would require at least 180 days’ notice, as well as consultation, prior to implementing changes in immigration policy. It is unclear whether those terms are enforceable, but similar agreements were struck with several other states under the former administration.

The U.S. district judge implemented a nationwide injunction because a geographically-limited order would not adequately protect Texas’ interests due to "the free flow of movement" of illegal aliens from other states.

Fox News exclusively reported over the weekend that an email sent last week to ICE officers called for stopping "all removals" and to "release them [undocumented immigrants] all, immediately."

Note: Obama/Biden's deportation was very active. Millions were deported.

Just a thought.

The chance of Donald Trump being convicted in his impeachment trial in the Senate looks less likely as of Tuesday, when 45 Republicans attempted to dismiss the proceedings before they began.

With 55 senators still supporting the trial, the Republicans’ objections were not enough to derail it, but to get a conviction 67 senators need to vote in favor. In practice, this means a dozen Republicans who just voted to end the trial would need to cross the aisle and vote in favor of impeaching Trump, which seems unlikely.

Rand Paul of Kentucky, who led the effort to cancel the trial, argued it was not legitimate since Trump is no longer president, a claim the Democratic majority leader, Chuck Schumer, said had been “completely debunked by constitutional scholars from all across the political spectrum”.

Angry Rash...

An angry red rash being called “COVID arm” is a harmless but annoying response in some people who get the Moderna vaccine. Aside from sometimes being itchy, it doesn't appear to be dangerous and people who get it should not hesitate to get their second dose of the vaccine, doctors say.

There is no indication the reaction is anything but a topical – and brief – response as the body’s immune system goes to work, said Dr. Esther Freeman, director of global health dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

“We want to reassure people that this is a known phenomenon. Having a big red splotch on your arm for a couple of days may not be fun but the reality is there's no need to panic and no reason not to get your second shot,” she said.

Freeman is the principal investigator in the global COVID-19 dermatological registry, which is collecting case reports of people experiencing COVID-19 responses. So far there are only 14 examples in the registry but she thinks there are more that haven’t been reported.

Fragile...

President Joe Biden and the new Democratic Congress were just sworn in, but the clock has already started on the 2022 midterm elections, when voters will decide if the president gets more than two years to advance his agenda with a friendly Congress.

Democrats have to defend a narrow 221-211 majority in the House (218 seats are needed for control) and the 50-50 Senate, where losing even a single seat will cost the party the chamber.

History is not on their side. Americans typically put a check on power, and the president's party has lost House seats in nearly every midterm since the 1930s. They typically suffer big losses in their first midterm.

"In 2020, House Republicans won 28 out of the 29 most competitive districts by highlighting the exact job-killing policies Joe Biden has enacted during his first week in office," said Michael McAdams, spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee, the campaign arm of the House GOP. "If House Democrats thought 2020 was bad, they aren't the slightest bit prepared for what the 2022 cycle has in store."

Stripping...

The NYPD has released video showing suspects wanted for stealing and then stripping an unmarked police car in the Bronx — with one seemingly ready-handed with a power drill.

Four people wanted for stealing the Ford Taurus — assigned to the Bronx Special Victims Unit — from outside a supermarket at East 167th and Fox Streets at just after 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The car was found later a mile north, outside a laundromat near the Bronx River — up on cinderblocks and completely stripped and destroyed.

One of the quartet being sought was seen carrying a cigarette in her right hand — and a yellow-and-black power drill in her left.

Police said the car was “entered by unknown means” before being driven away and “disassembled.” It was not immediately clear if the suspects would have known it was a police car.

Five children found dead after a West Virginia house fire late last year.

Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan said Oreanna Antoinette Myers, 25, shot her three children and two stepchildren at their home near Williamsburg. The children ranged in age from 1 to 7.

The children’s bodies were found inside the home while Myers was found outside, Sloan said.

Officials said the weapon was not automatic, meaning Myers had to reload the shotgun before each deadly blast.

Sloan said text messages sent in the week before the tragedy between Myers and her husband showed that Bumgarner’s work-related absence was the source of a heated disagreement between the couple.

What's happening here?   Just a thought.

Police say a man was assaulted and robbed by a group of people in Chinatown on Friday.

According to police, a 26-year-old man was attacked by a group of about 12 people around 11:30 a.m. near Canal Street and Allen Street.

Video shows the victim running from the group before he’s pulled to the ground. Individuals can be seen kicking and stomping the victim

Police said the attackers fled the scene in multiple vehicles.

It's unclear what led to the attack. The victim told police he didn't know his attackers.

Going Dutch..

Dutch police have arrested the alleged leader of a large Asian drug syndicate who is listed as one of the world's most-wanted fugitives and has been compared to Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Tse Chi Lop, a Chinese-born Canadian national, was detained on Friday at the request of Australian police, who led an investigation that found his organisation dominates the $70 billion-a-year Asia-Pacific drug trade, Dutch police spokesman Thomas Aling said on Saturday.

Tse is expected to be extradited after appearing before a judge, Aling said, adding that his arrest by national police took place without incident at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

"He was already on the most-wanted list and he was detained based on intelligence we received," Aling said.

Dutch police were unable to provide details about the legal proceedings and it was not clear if Tse had a lawyer.

Tse's crime syndicate allegedly dominates the Asia-Pacific crystal methamphetamine trade, which increased fourfold in the five years to 2019, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

When Hank Aaron and other African  American leaders invited reporters to watch them receive COVID-19 immunization shots on Jan. 5, the baseball legend said he did so to help spread the word to millions that the vaccine is safe.

“It felt good,” Aaron said afterward at the Morehouse School of Medicine, where the event was held.  Now, just over two weeks later, public health experts and some of the Black leaders with Aaron that day worry that an event that drew so much publicity could inadvertently serve to undermine confidence in the vaccine. Within minutes of news breaking Friday morning of the baseball great’s death, those with doubts about the vaccine turned to social media to try to draw a connection to Aaron’s recent immunization.

The politics entered the Medical field with Covid vaccines.  The politicians are not helping the patients, the hospitals or the flow of information. So please get out and keep your comments private.  Just a thought.

Potassium is a mineral that's classified as an electrolyte, because it's highly reactive in water. When it's dissolved in water, potassium produces ions that are positively charged, and its ability to conduct electricity is what makes it an integral part of our body's ability to properly function. Despite our lack of knowledge about potassium, its importance cannot be emphasized enough.

"Potassium helps with many processes in the body, including water regulation in and out of the cells, sending nerve signals, and controlling muscle contractions," explains Amy Shapiro, MS, RD, CDN, and founder of Real Nutrition

"It also has been shown to help decrease high blood pressure, reduce the risk of stroke, and prevent kidney stones and osteoporosis

This is because it helps to prevent calcium from leaching out of the bones."

These foods contain more than 250 milligrams potassium per half-cup serving.

Democratic Reps. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Cori Bush of Missouri on Friday led a group of 35 lawmakers in urging President Joe Biden to commute the sentences of all federal prisoners on death row.
"We look forward to working with your administration to enact just and restorative policies that will meaningfully transform our criminal legal system for the better. By exercising your clemency power, you can ensure that there would be no one left on death row to kill. Given the historic nature of your administration, this would be an unprecedented -- but necessary -- action to reverse systemic injustices and restore America's moral standing," according to the letter.
There are currently 49 people on federal death row, 21 of whom are White, 20 who are Black, seven who are Latino and one who is Asian.

The Napalm Girl

Two positive psychologists, Martin Seligman (from the University of Pennsylvania) and Christopher Peterson (the VIA Institute on Character's scientific director), who published the handbook Character Strengths and Virtues (the "un-Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders"), describe six "virtues," or core characteristics that are universally valued. These virtues are:

Wisdom: Intellectual strengths that help you gain and use information.

Courage: Strengths of will that help you accomplish goals in the face of fear and internal or external obstacles.

Humanity: Interpersonal strengths that help you befriend others and tend to your relationships.

Justice: Social or civic strengths that help bolster a healthy community.

Temperance: Protective traits that help you avoid excess and stay on track in the face of temptations.

Transcendence: Strengths of meaning that connect you with the larger world and provide meaning.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposed raising taxes on the wealthy to a combined level of 14.7%, which would be the highest state-and-local tax rate in the nation.

The tax increase would raise $1.5 billion for the state, Cuomo said  in an address unveiling his 2022 budget proposal.

The state would raise the top tax rate to 10.86%, up from 8.82%, Cuomo said. That would yield a top rate of 14.7% for the wealthiest New York City residents in combined taxes.

"[It] would be the highest income tax in the nation," Cuomo said.

Batch...

California’s top doctor is recommending a pause on distributing a specific batch of COVID-19 vaccinations that has been linked to several allergic reactions in downtown San Diego.

A cluster of allergic reactions that prompted California to halt the use of hundreds of thousands of doses of coronavirus vaccine has thrown another wrench into the state’s struggling vaccination rollout, forcing some health care providers to cancel clinics visit.

The development stems from one batch of Moderna vaccines apparently linked to severe allergic reactions in six health care workers who received shots at a mass vaccination site at Petco Park, the Padres’ baseball stadium in San Diego last week. The California Department of Public Health issued a statement recommending that health care providers stop using vaccines from this batch, which arrived in California between Jan. 5 and Jan. 12.

First Dose...

The evidence is very strong that both company's Covid vaccines are very effective at preventing symptomatic COVID infections 12 days after the first dose.

It's very likely that 12 days after getting their first COVID vaccine dose - Pfizer or Moderna - will be well-protected against getting ill from the virus.

Dr. Walsh, one of the leaders of the local trial of the Pfizer vaccine, says the information, while encouraging, is also sparking debate "as to how to optimally benefit in the face of a severely escalating pandemic."

Great Britain is rolling the dice, stretching out time between vaccine doses up to 12 weeks so more people will get at least one dose more quickly.

He says it's also possible that smaller doses might be effective in preventing infections and getting more people vaccinated.

Coincidence...

The Norwegian Medicines Agency said in a statement some common reactions to the vaccine may have contributed to their deaths, which was to be expected in frail patients.

A total of 29 people, all aged over 75, died out of more than 42,000 vaccinations in the Scandinavian country.

University of Auckland vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris said there's no indication the two are linked and the virus itself poses a much greater threat to the age bracket.

"I think this is something that we have expected," she told Newshub. "When you start vaccinating the extremely elderly - these are very, very frail people - you are, by chance, going to see deaths occurring shortly after.

Petousis-Harris said the deaths were most likely a coincidence.

Have we coincident our elderly?

The Brooklyn Army Terminal will soon become a "mass vaccination site" as the city speeds up its efforts to vaccinate New Yorkers against the coronavirus, the mayor announced.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and health officials unveiled the a new list of sites that will join their plan to double the number of places New Yorkers can get a coronavirus vaccines on Wednesday.

The latest round includes a "mass vaccination site" at the Army Terminal and three smaller "vaccine hubs" that are set to open in Brooklyn in the next week.

The Army Terminal, set to open on Sunday, will be available 24/7 for vaccination appointments for those who qualify, de Blasio said.

The site was shut down 4 days later due to lack of vaccines. An issue very well known ahead of time by all.

But its about the posing and advertisement.

Chasing...

US defense officials say they are worried about an insider attack or other threat from service members involved in securing President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday, prompting the FBI to vet all 25,000 national guard troops coming into Washington for the event.

The massive undertaking reflects the extraordinary security concerns that have gripped Washington following the insurrection at the US Capitol.

And it underscores fears that some of the very people assigned to protect the city over the next several days could present a threat to the incoming president and other VIPs.

Army secretary Ryan McCarthy said officials were conscious of the potential threat, and warned commanders to be on the lookout for problems within their ranks. So far, however, he and other leaders say they have seen no evidence of any threats, and officials said the vetting hadn’t flagged any issues that they were aware of.  [The Guardian]

Living in Fear...

A House impeachment manager acknowledged on Sunday that one reason for charging President Donald Trump with incitement of insurrection was to prevent the outgoing commander in chief from trying to become president again.

the trial could serve as a referendum on whether Trump should be able to seek federal office again, a decision that could affect his grip on the party and reshape the future of the GOP.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a top Trump ally, challenged Biden to call off Democrats’ pursuit of a conviction. Graham warned that the effort would further divide the country and show that Biden is “an incredibly weak figure.”And to my Republican colleagues in the Senate,” he told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, “if we embrace an unconstitutional impeachment of Donald Trump after he’s out of office, it will destroy the party.”

Support...

President Donald Trump retains overwhelming support from Republican voters in the final days of his term, an NBC News poll conducted shows.

Nearly nine in 10 Republicans approve of Trump’s job performance, according to the survey, a figure virtually unchanged from just ahead of the November contest. Eighty-nine percent of Republicans said they approved of Trump before the election, compared to 87% in the most recent poll.

The numbers show that Trump continues to have a strong hold on the loyalty of Republican voters even on his way out the door.

Among Republicans who primarily support Trump, his job approval stands at 98%. For those who primarily support the party, it is 81%.

The more Nancy Pelosi's prosecution of Trump, the more support he will get.

As you look at the Capital today, in preparation for the virtual inauguration on Wed. 1/20/2021, you can imagine the number of troops and service men in the area to protect the Virtual celebration.   Just a thought.

Looks glamorous, ! What's less fun is that women who smoke are on average going to have their heart attacks a whole FifteeN YearS SooneR than non-smoking women. That's a lot of life to lose for glamour!

Young women are especially vulnerable because they often don’t recognize the signs and symptoms of heart trouble.

Ignorance alone could be responsible for more than 15,000 women who die each year from a heart attack in the U.S, . It could also explain why women under the age of 55 have twice the risk of dying during hospitalization for an acute heart attack of men in the same age group.

“Chest pain is still the most common symptom of a heart attack,” . "There can be shortness of breath and almost flu-like symptoms including nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting.” Symptoms may start several days or even weeks before a major heart attack.

Other common heart attack symptoms for women include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach. If you have any of these signs, the association urges you not to wait more than five minutes before calling for medical help.

Unbelievable....

Former Florida Department of Health worker, Rebekah Jones is turning herself in to police, after she says an arrest warrant was issued by the state.

For context, Jones helped create the state's COVID-19 dashboard but was ousted last year when Gov. Ron DeSantis accused her of putting data on the portal that the scientists did not believe, not listening to her superiors, and having criminal charges in the state.

Since then, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement claims Jones got into the Department of Health communications system and sent a text to users of the State Emergency Response Team after she had left her position. Jones has publicly denied such claims.

The text message in question, according to the affidavit for the search warrant provided by the FDLE, was sent Nov. 10 and urged people "to speak up before another 17,000 people are dead. You know this is wrong. You don't have to be part of this. Be a hero. Speak out before it's too late."

WEAR-TV reports a man told Tallahassee Police that he was a victim of revenge porn by Jones in June 2019. He said he had an injunction against Jones and said she posted a website which included naked pictures of him, and shared it with his place of employment and family members.

People are presumed innocent until proven guilty in The Court Of Law though.

Soiree...

The Hate love story for the world to watch. Use some big words in it like Incite, Constitution, Protection, Duties, etc.

Not enough that the first impeachment failed miserably, now let us try it again. This time is different.

The whole congress following Ms. Pelosi into a useless second impeachment or we can say looking for Revenge. No questions asked.

We blame other countries when they just agree with their leader to do something with this type of agreement... It is usually a bad idea like the invasion of Iraq and the destruction of Libya.

Scorned...

It was the English poet William Congreve, in his play “The Mourning Bride,” 1697, who first penned the line “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Now we must update the warning: “Hell hath no fury like a Catholic woman scorned.”

Even veteran Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) watchers said they’ve never seen the Speaker explode like she did.  But when James Rosen of Sinclair shouted out his impertinent question  “Do you hate the president, Madam Speaker?” Pelosi fired back with both barrels.

Pelosi was responding to something much more sinister in that question. He wasn’t just questioning her politics, he was questioning her faith

There are two things that guide her: her family and her unshakeable Catholic faith.

The Social Gospel very simply holds that we’re on earth with a duty to do the best we can, helping others. And, in so doing, they’re motivated only by love. Again, following Christ’s dictate in the gospel:

“As a Catholic, I resent your using the word ‘hate’ in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone.”    BY BILL PRESS, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR —

Disrespect ...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House will proceed with legislation to impeach President Donald Trump for the second time 7 days before the end of his term.

She pushed Trump vice president and his Cabinet to invoke constitutional authority force him out.   That failed.

In a letter in mid-January 2019, Trump canceled a trip Pelosi was scheduled to take to Brussels and Afghanistan on a military plane.

After the release of the Mueller report in April, [again failed attempt against Trump] talk of impeachment began to swirl.  Pelosi told reporters the president was “engaged in a cover-up.

Another fight erupted when the Justice Department backed a judge's ruling that the entire Affordable Care Act should be repealed.

In mid-October, tensions between Trump and Pelosi cut a White House meeting short after 20 minutes. The meeting, which was meant to be about the administration's Syria policy, began with the president declaring he did not want to be there.

On December 17, Trump sent a six-page letter to Pelosi, calling the impeachment inquiry “an unconstitutional abuse of power” and “war on American Democracy.”  The impeachment failed miserably.

Stonewaller...

Whenever my boyfriend and I get into a fight, he stops speaking to me. I am not talking about the I-need-to-calm-down-for-a-minute kind of thing people do.

He full blown ignores me. I call his name, I ask him a question, I try to get his attention and he doesn’t even look up! It drives me crazy!  Sick of the Silent Treatment.

The scenario is usually that two people are walking separately, one complaining loudly and sometimes incoherently, and the other silently refusing to acknowledge their partner’s complaints.

Outdoors or indoors what’s happening is essentially the same: one person is stonewalling and the other is getting madder and madder because they are being treated as if they’re not there.

The person doing the stonewalling is probably “flooded” emotionally. Their blood pressure is up, stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol are surging through their bloodstream and they may even be caught up in the fight, flight or freeze response to stress.

Stonewalling has a similar effect on the person who is making the complaints. Their blood pressure and level of distress also go up.

“When that happens, it is impossible to continue discussing the issue at hand in a rational and respectful way; you’re simply too physiologically agitated to do so.”

So here we are. Just a thought.
