Falling apart..

For the second time in a month, a newly formed Ukrainian army brigade is disintegrating as it deploys to the front line in one of the most urgent sectors of Russia’s 35-month wider war on Ukraine.
This newly formed brigade did not undergo the necessary combat training,” one relative of a 157th Mechanized Brigade trooper told Hromadske, “but it was immediately sent to the hottest areas” including the besieged fortress city of Pokrovsk in eastern Ukraine.
Defending it is one of Ukraine’s top objectives. Given its importance, it’s shocking to many observers that the Ukrainian army keeps reinforcing the city with dysfunctional units, including the 155th and 157th Mechanized Brigades.

Both units began falling apart before they even arrived in Pokrovsk.

Omnipresent..

Politico's White House reporters wrote on Saturday about the stark contrast between the "invisible" and "shielded" former President Biden and the "omnipresent" President Donald Trump.

Since Trump’s inauguration last week, White House correspondent Eli Stokols and White House Bureau Chief Dasha Burns reported how Trump has given multiple speeches, made several policy announcements and has spoken to reporters at length.

Trump’s huge media presence is a change compared to the more muted Biden years.

"Yes, Trump was eager to sign all those executive orders reversing Biden’s policies," they wrote. "But the bigger flex for Trump, 78, was to contrast his accessibility, aptitude and activity with his predecessor, who was so often shielded from public view by aides wary of showcasing the 82-year-old’s growing limitations."

LNG..

The EU will not attempt to fully ban Russian liquefied natural gas purchases in its latest sanctions package, two EU diplomats told POLITICO, defying pressure to outlaw imports of the supercooled fuel.

The European Commission is set to formally present its 16th sanctions package against Russia to EU capitals on Wednesday, according to the two diplomats, who were granted anonymity to speak freely.

The proposal will not include a blanket prohibition of LNG imports, as EU hawks have been urging. Instead, it would only stop Russian LNG from going to EU terminals not connected to the EU’s gas system — a restriction that won’t affect the majority of LNG imports.

Comment:
It seems that as the Biden team is gone, who canceled Nord Stream 2, and was ok with destruction of Nord stream 1, and the inflated prices of oil and natural gas, the EU is looking into their economic prosperity, low inflation and proper energy supplies.  Just a thought.

Ruckus..

Social media erupted Tuesday with users shocked and upset with CNN's decision to let anchor Jim Acosta go , while keeping conservative commentator Scott Jennings.

The ruckus started after Acosta announced on-air Tuesday morning that he was leaving the network after 18 years.

"You may have seen some reports about me and this show. And after giving all of this some careful consideration and weighing an alternative time slot CNN offered me, I have decided to move on,” Acosta said.

He continued, “I have always believed it’s the job of the press to hold power to account. I have always tried to do that here at CNN. I plan on doing all of that in the future.

One final message: Don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to the fear. Hold on to the truth. And to hope, even if you have to get out your phone, record that message. I will not give in to the lies. I will not give in to the fear.

Deception..

Two former Politico reporters, Marc Caputo and Tara Palmeri, claimed there was a significant bias in the media towards protecting Joe Biden prior to the 2020 presidential election .

The reporters said Politico deliberately avoided or suppressed negative stories concerning the former president and his son, Hunter Biden Knewz.com can reveal.

Caputo told the host of the Axios podcast : “Politico did that terrible, ill-fated headline: ’51 intelligence agents, or former intelligence agents, say that the Hunter Biden laptop was disinformation.’

“Turns out that the Hunter Biden laptop story appeared to be true.”

The former Politico reporter told his editor the outlet needed to “write about the Hunter Biden laptop” but was instructed, per orders from “on high” at the outlet.
