Trifecta..

Beginning in January 2025, Republicans in Washington will achieve what’s commonly known as a governing “trifecta”: control over the executive branch via the president, combined with majorities for their party in both the House and the Senate.

Trump, 78, campaigned on a sweeping agenda that Democrats will be largely powerless to stop unless joined by a handful of Republican defectors in Congress.

Republicans will have a 53-47 edge in the Senate, and the tie-breaking vote of Vice President-elect JD Vance in the event of a 50-50 stalemate on any legislative proposal. Republicans also have secured at least 218 seats in the 435-member House,

During his bid to win a second nonconsecutive four-year term, Trump called for the massive deportation of millions of undocumented migrants living in the United States to their home countries, an extension and expansion of 2017 tax cuts that are set to expire at the end of 2025, further deregulation of businesses, a curb on climate controls, and prosecution of  people he calls “the enemy within.”

Forgotten..

Biden wanted his presidential legacy to be that of a transformative figure, lifting America out of the depths of COVID-19 and Trumpism toward a new era of prosperity.

Instead, Biden's presidency will be remembered, to the extent it is at all, as a bump in the road of the Trump Era.

Biden could face an even worse fate, because by the time Trump leaves office in 2029, he will have been the dominant focal point of American political life for over 12 years. Even when Trump wasn't in office, he monopolized our attention.

Ironically, by losing the election in 2020, and being forced to serve nonconsecutive terms, the Trump Era has an extended shelf life beyond even the most influential two-term presidents. In comparison, Biden will be all but forgotten.....

Welcome..

Hemorrhage..

Fox News Channel commanded its highest share of the cable news audience in network history last week as CNN and MSNBC continue to hemorrhage viewers since Election Day.

Fox News finished the week of November 11-17 with its highest share of the cable news audience among total day in the network’s 28-year history across multiple categories. As Fox News makes history, MSNBC posted its lowest-rated week in over 25 years in key categories as viewers continued to flee the network on the heels of President-elect Donald Trump’s victory over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Fox News Channel averaged 1.9 million total viewers during the week of November 11, finishing as the only cable option to crack the one-million viewer benchmark. ESPN finished second with 837,000 total viewers and Hallmark Channel finished third with 503,000.

MSNBC settled for fourth with 487,000 total viewers despite the historic news cycle, while CNN managed only 337,000 average total viewers to finish fifth among cable networks.
