Loses..

Unrealized losses in the US banking system are once again on the rise, according to new numbers from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

In its Quarterly Banking Profile report, the FDIC says banks are now saddled with more than half a trillion dollars in paper losses on their balance sheets, due largely to exposure to the residential real estate market.

“Unrealized losses on available-for-sale and held-to-maturity securities increased by $39 billion to $517 billion in the first quarter. Higher unrealized losses on residential mortgage-backed securities, resulting from higher mortgage rates in the first quarter, drove the overall increase. This is the ninth straight quarter of unusually high unrealized losses since the Federal Reserve began to raise interest rates in first quarter 2022.”

Not to worry, other countries have the same problems, may be.  Just a thought.

Used..?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is   warning former President Donald Trump that he could be a "loser president" if he tries to broker a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia if he gets another term in the White House.

Zelensky told The Guardian in an interview published Monday that although he has "no strategy yet" for how he would handle a second Trump term, he thinks the presumptive Republican nominee could become a "loser president" if he follows through on the plans outlined by some of his aides.

Not knowing he's being played?  Just a thought.

Election..

Kathy Hochul is quietly maneuvering to delay a plan to toll drivers entering Manhattan’s central business district, just weeks before it is slated to go into effect, according to two people familiar with the discussions.

The first-in-the-nation congestion pricing plan, which has been decades in the making, is slated to start June 30. Drivers using E-ZPass will pay as much as $15 to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street.

But even as Ms. Hochul believes that congestion pricing is good environmental policy, she has concerns that the timing was less than ideal, according to a person familiar with her thinking. The governor feared that it might deter commuters from returning to the central business district, which has yet to fully recover from the pandemic.

Ms. Hochul’s gambit, if successful, could also help her fellow Democrats in the House who might otherwise face angry voters in an election year.  Just a thought.

Slipping..

Biden is the one having trouble keeping up and behind the scenes, it's even worse than it looks. A bombshell Wall Street Journal report, 45 sources, Republican and Democrats, all people who spent hours and hours inside, behind closed doors with the president, say he's not the same person.

His memory is slipping. He mumbles so much that people sitting right next to him have trouble hearing him.

He relies on his note cards to make obvious points, pauses for extended periods, and sometimes closes his eyes for so long that people in the room wonder whether he tuned out.   Just a thought.

Crisis..

On Friday, Ukraine Got Permission To Launch American Rockets At Targets Inside Russia. Hours Later, HIMARS Opened Fire.

Expanding the war. 200 Billion Dollars weapons, Clustered ammunitions which all human rights opposed sending it. Just a thought.

Hush..

Donald Trump became the first former American president to be convicted of felony crimes Thursday as a New York jury found him guilty of all 34 charges in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through a hush money payment to a porn actor who said the two had sex.

This was a rigged, disgraceful trial,” an angry Trump told reporters after leaving the courtroom. “The real verdict is going to be Nov. 5 by the people.

Opinion:

Were the NY jury faire to this accused?

Was the timing ( before presidential election ) fare to the American people?

Did the jury properly discuss a 34 count in such a short period of time and reached a beyond a reasonable doubt?

With the Money donation to President Trump exceeded 55 Million dollars in such a short time an indication one way or another?

 Just a thought.

Chile..

Chile has joined a group of nations supporting a genocide case against Israel filed last year at the International Court of Justice.

President Gabriel Boric said in a speech to lawmakers Saturday that he was appalled by the humanitarian devastation in Gaza, especially against women and children. He accused the Israeli army of using "indiscriminate and disproportional" force.

Chile joins a group of mostly developing countries including Mexico, Brazil and Indonesia that has rallied behind South Africa's petition.

Salt..

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly one in two adults in the U.S. has high blood pressure. Considering that high blood pressure is one of the biggest risk factors for heart disease—the leading cause of death in the U.S.—this statistic is pretty alarming. High blood pressure also goes hand-in-hand with high LDL cholesterol, which 75 percent of heart attack and stroke survivors reported having, according to new data from the American Heart Association.

The main source of sodium is salt and the reason why it negatively impacts blood pressure is because salt makes the body hold onto water. This extra water in the body puts pressure on blood vessel walls, raising blood pressure.

Dr. Karishma Patwa, MD, a cardiologist with Manhattan Cardiology and contributor to LabFinder.com, says that many people don’t realize all the places sodium can be hidden. This includes frozen meals, condiments, sauces, canned soups and fast food. Minimizing processed foods such as these is the best way to minimize the amount of sodium in your diet.  Just a thought.
