Cognitive..

A new groundbreaking study showed that a common cholesterol-lowering blood pressure medication could slow cognitive decline in Alzheimer's patients.
Swedish researchers, who conducted the study based on data from the Swedish Registry for Cognitive/Dementia Disorders, studied the effects of statins, drugs that reduce cholesterol, including in the brain.
The answer lies in statin ability to reduce congestion in blood pathways in the brain that can become filled with proteins, lipids like cholesterols or the beta amyloid amino acid that has recently been linked to Alzheimer's.
When blood pathways get clogged, they can kill off brain cells. The National Institute on Aging states: "Abnormal levels of this naturally occurring protein clump together to form plaques that collect between neurons and disrupt cell function." And when cell function is disrupted, a person's cognitive ability can be drastically reduced.  Just a thought.

Indiscriminate..

Israel and the United States on Tuesday showed their sharpest public disagreement yet over the conduct and future of the war against Hamas as the two allies became increasingly isolated by global calls for a cease-fire.
The dispute emerged while Israeli forces carried out strikes across Gaza, crushing Palestinians in homes.
President Joe Biden said he told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Israel was losing international support because of its “indiscriminate bombing” and that Netanyahu should change his government, which is dominated by hard-right parties
General Assembly passed a resolution calling for a humanitarian cease-fire by a vote of 153 in favor, 10 against and 23 abstentions. The non-binding vote is largely symbolic, but it serves as an important barometer of world opinion. None of the major powers joined Israel and the United States in opposing it.  (AP)
Who is going to rebuild these hospitals, schools, homes?

U Singh..

According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, Rambhai Patel, 36, and Balwinder Singh, 39, were indicted on one count each of conspiracy to commit visa fraud. Patel was arrested in Seattle on Dec. 13, 2023, and remains detained pending trial. Singh was arrested in Queens, N.Y. on Dec. 13, 2023.

The alleged staged robberies, the “robber” would threaten store clerks and/or owners with an apparent firearm before taking cash from the register and fleeing, while the interaction was captured on store surveillance video. The clerks and/or owners would then wait five or more minutes until the “robber” had escaped before calling police to report the “crime.” The “victims” are alleged to have each paid Patel to participate in the scheme. One purported victim allegedly paid $20,000 to participate as a victim in one of the staged armed robberies. In turn, Patel allegedly paid the store owners for the use of their stores for the staged robbery.

It is alleged that at least two purported victim co-conspirators submitted U Visa applications based on being victims of the staged armed robberies. alleged that at least two purported victim co-conspirators submitted U Visa applications based on being victims of the staged armed robberies

F-35

A Dutch appeals court on Monday ordered the government to block all exports of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel over concerns they were being used in violations of international law during Israel's Gaza offensive.
It said the state had to comply with the order within seven days and dismissed a request by government lawyers to suspend the order pending an appeal to the Supreme Court. The state has eight weeks to appeal against the decision.
"It is undeniable that there is a clear risk the exported F-35 parts are used in serious violations of international humanitarian law," the court said.
Israel's massive aerial and ground offensive in the densely populated Gaza Strip has killed more than 28,000 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run enclave's health authorities, and displaced most of its 2.3 million people from their homes. Just a thought.

The Swing..

Incoming White House chief of staff Ron Klain distributed a memo that reiterated Mr. Biden's intention to fulfill several of his promises — some geared toward immediate action to arrest the surging coronavirus pandemic, some to roll back the actions taken by President Trump in the last four years Particularly the Wall.
Couple of years later we have the worst illegal migrant activities ever.

Confidence..

Legendary political strategist James Carville argued Saturday that the White House has little confidence in President Biden after he turned down a Super Bowl Sunday interview.

Biden recently declined to take part in the Super Bowl Sunday interview for the second year in a row. The interview is a tradition that began in 2009 with President Obama.

The interview is generally seen as a way for the president to connect with a massive audience that doesn't usually tune into political conferences. Last year, the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles saw 115 million viewers.

"It’s the biggest television audience, not even close, and you get a chance to do a 20-, 25-minute interview on that day," Carville began.

"And you don’t do it? That’s a kind of sign that the staff or yourself doesn’t have much confidence in you," Carville continued. "There’s no other way to read this."
