Help..

Jill and I were deeply saddened by the news of the devastating earthquakes that have thus far claimed thousands of lives in Turkiye and Syria. My Administration has been working closely with our NATO Ally Turkiye, and I authorized an immediate U.S. response.

Our teams are deploying quickly to begin to support Turkish search and rescue efforts and address the needs of those injured and displaced by the earthquake. U.S.-supported humanitarian partners are also responding to the destruction in Syria.

Today, our hearts and our deepest condolences are with all those who have lost precious loved ones, those who are injured, and those who saw their homes and businesses destroyed.

May be the US and Nato ought to review their Sanctions on those poor people of Syria that been there for 15 years. Just a thought

Catastrophic..

The 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Monday evening had its epicenter in the Defne district of Turkey's Hatay province, which was of the area's worst affected by the Feb. 6 magnitude 7.8 quake that killed nearly 46,000 people in the two countries.

Same time, the US and the west have sanctions on Syria in the past 15 years which is destroying its economy.  The US military occupies one third of the country of Syria for one reason or another.

Hated..

Cato..

Americans should be shocked by what Washington does such as illegally intervening in Syria’s civil war and occupying a third of that country.

Despite pressure to actively intervene against Assad, the Obama administration focused on aiding supposedly moderate insurgents, with little success. One program spent a half billion dollars to train fewer than threescore fighters.

Radicals hid their views in order to receive arms from America; supposedly democratic forces fought with and sometimes surrendered to Islamists, along with their equipment.

Moreover, reported the New York Times: “Most of the arms shipped at the behest of Saudi Arabia and Qatar to supply Syrian rebel groups fighting the government of Bashar al‐Assad are going to hard‐line Islamic jihadists, and not the more secular opposition groups that the West wants to bolster, according to American officials and Middle Eastern diplomats.”

One of the indirect beneficiaries of U.S. aid was Jabhat al‐Nusra, Syria’s al‐Qaeda affiliate.  [Article by Cato Institute.]

Theft..

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said Saturday it would be “unthinkable” for Russia not to pay for Ukraine’s reconstruction.
The EU said she was “disappointed” by a decision that Swiss authorities took last week against using seized Russian assets to assist with Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction.

She insisted that Moscow would be held financially accountable for the destruction inflicted on its neighbor.

Swiss authorities ruled that permanently confiscating the assets of Russians banned within the country was unconstitutional. [theft]
So far, the Swiss has moved in lockstep with the European Union in freezing assets of high-profile Russians linked to President Vladimir Putin. It currently has about 7.5 billion Swiss francs ($8.1 billion) in frozen assets.
Von der Leyen described the ruling as putting business interests ahead of political justice. Asked if he was disappointed with the verdict, he replied bluntly.
What about the destruction of Iraq, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, and Vietnam?
