Debt..

Prices..

The U.K. inflation rate fell for the third month in a row in January to hit 10.1%, below economists' expectations, but high food and energy prices continued to put the pressure on British households.  Economists polled by Reuters had forecast inflation would drop to 10.3%

While the inflation rate has dropped, it's important to remember prices aren't necessarily going to start falling, according to Richard Ollive, senior advisor at financial services firm Wesleyan. Worker pay continues to lag behind inflation.
Comment:
Sanctions on Russia and other countries that is enacted by the west following the US has caused a major problem for the west.
But then the Media just going along with stories like the Balloons or the Aliens to keep the people in their struggle to afford food and energy.  Just a thought.

Immunity acquired from a Covid infection provides strong, lasting protection against the most severe outcomes of the illness, according to research published Thursday in The Lancet — protection, experts say, that’s on par with what’s provided through two doses of an mRNA vaccine.

Infection-acquired immunity cut the risk of hospitalization and death from a Covid reinfection by 88% for at least 10 months, the study found.

The study was the largest meta-analysis to date to look at immunity following infection. It included 65 studies from 19 countries and compared the risk of developing Covid again in people who had recovered from infections to people who hadn’t been infected through September. People who had hybrid immunity, or immunity from both infection and vaccination, were excluded.

While protection from severe disease remained high, people could be reinfected, particularly with an omicron subvariant, consistent with evidence that protection against having symptoms wanes faster than protection against hospitalization and death. That was rejected earlier and caused a lot of problems and wastefulness.

Just a thought.

Obesity..

A new study from Canada, published in the renowned journal Science, has shed light on a potential molecular cause of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

Research conducted at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont in Montreal has revealed how stressors of daily life, such as obesity, can alter the immune system and cause harm to the eye as it ages.
Considerable effort has been invested in understanding the genes responsible for AMD, variations, and mutations in susceptibility genes only increase the risk of developing the disease, but do not cause it,” Sapieha explained.
A better understanding of how other factors such as environment and lifestyle contribute to disease development.

Sad..

Results from the CDC's 2021 Youth Risk Behavior Survey show startling trends.  Nearly 3 in 5 teen girls (57%) said they felt "persistently sad or hopeless."  That's the highest rate in a decade.

And 30% said they have seriously considered dying by suicide a percentage that's risen by nearly 60% over the past 10 years. "The numbers are unprecedented."

The survey, which has been conducted every other year for three decades, includes responses from 17,232 U.S. high school students.

Overall, more than 40% of boys and girls said that they'd felt so sad or hopeless within the past year that they were unable to do their regular activities, such as schoolwork or sports, for at least two weeks.

When researchers looked at gender differences, girls were far more likely to report such feelings than boys.

The CDC survey found that more than 1 in 5 such youth, 22%, had attempted suicide within the past year.

Unifier..

President Joe Biden has sharpened his attacks against Donald Trump and the so-called MAGA Republicans for posing a threat to democracy.

But the American story depends not on any one of us, not on some of us, but on all of us.
On “We the People” who seek a more perfect Union.

This is a great nation and we are a good people.
