Unexplained..

Almost half of US adults believe side effects from the COVID-19 vaccines may have caused “unexplained” deaths, according to a Rasmussen poll released Monday.

The survey polled 1,000 American adults via telephone or online over the period of Dec. 28 to Dec. 30, with a margin of error of +/- 3%.

Nearly half of Americans, 48%, said there are genuine reasons to be concerned about vaccine efficacy.

More than a quarter (28%) of Americans polled said they personally knew someone whose death may have been caused by side effects from the COVID-19 vaccine, with 61% saying they did not know anyone and 10% saying they weren’t sure if they did.

Party..

Although the GOP’s showing in midterm elections fell short of their own expectations, conservatives, freshly equipped with subpoena power, can soon deliver on those promises after securing a narrow majority in the House.

Some Republicans have signaled that they hope their probes will lead to impeachments, namely of President Joe Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., has tried to tamp down on such talk. He has said impeachment should not be used as a political weapon.

Republicans have spent the past three years accusing the younger Biden of profiting from his father’s roles as a U.S. senator and vice president. Just a thought.

Protein..

Protein is found in every cell of the body including the brain, so it's important to get enough of it through your diet. That said, of all the protein-rich foods out there, some may benefit your brain more than others.

As for which proteins support your brain the most, we asked a neurologist who told us that you can support your cognitive functioning over the years by adding more fatty fish to your routine.

Fatty fish, which includes salmon, black cod, anchovies and bluefin tuna, is high in protein and other nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids (a type of "healthy fat"), making it a nutritious addition to any diet.

For example, a 6-ounce filet of cooked salmon provides 43.2 grams of protein and 246 percent of your Daily Value (DV) for omega-3 fatty acids, per the USDA.

Staffing..

These nurses carried the hospitals, the city, the State for over two years during Covid-19 epidemic. They suffered, struggled understaffed while others getting credit.

It is time to consider their staffing requests to secure proper patient care. Just a thought.

Affordable....

A ban on foreigners buying residential property in Canada took effect on Sunday, aiming to make more homes available to locals facing a housing crunch.
Several exceptions in the act allow individuals such as refugees and permanent residents who are not citizens to buy homes.
The temporary two-year measure was proposed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during the 2021 election campaign when soaring prices put home ownership beyond the reach of many Canadians.
"The desirability of Canadian homes is attracting profiteers, wealthy corporations, and foreign investors," his Liberal Party said in its election plank at the time.
"This is leading to a real problem of underused and vacant housing, rampant speculation, and skyrocketing prices. Homes are for people, not investors."

Hire..

Nurses at eight New York City hospitals gave their 10-day strike notice Friday.

The New York State Nurses Association has been in contract negotiations with the private hospitals since September. The nurses are asking for a pay raise that keeps up with inflation and for the hospitals to hire more staff.

"You cannot have a nurse working in a medical surgical unit where she should have five patients and that nurse is taking care of 12 patients. There are nurses in the emergency room that are caring for 20 patients," NYSNA President Nancy Hagans said Saturday.

Elon..

Elon Musk was the second person ever to amass a personal fortune of more than $200 billion, breaching that threshold in January 2021, months after Jeff Bezos.

The Tesla Inc. chief executive officer has now achieved a first of his own: becoming the only person in history to erase $200 billion from their net worth.

Musk, 51, has seen his wealth plummet to $137 billion after Tesla shares tumbled in recent weeks, including an 11% drop on Tuesday, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His fortune peaked at $340 billion on Nov. 4, 2021, and he remained the world’s richest person until he was overtaken this month by Bernard Arnault, the French tycoon behind luxury-goods powerhouse LVMH.

Most of the Americans who invested in the stock market lost sizable amount.

Dive-In..

Neymar was sent off in Paris Saint-Germain’s 2-1 win against Strasbourg after the Brazil forward’s second-half dive in the penalty area Wednesday in his first match since the World Cup.

Neymar picked up his first yellow card in the 61st minute for catching Strasbourg midfielder Adrien Thomasson in the face with his hand and then a second caution one minute later for diving.

The forward remonstrated face to face with referee Clement Turpin but to no avail.

It was Neymar's fifth red card since joining PSG for a world record fee of 222 million euros ($236 million) in 2017, and he will be suspended for Sunday's game at second-place Lens.
