Going Dutch..

Dutch police have arrested the alleged leader of a large Asian drug syndicate who is listed as one of the world's most-wanted fugitives and has been compared to Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

Tse Chi Lop, a Chinese-born Canadian national, was detained on Friday at the request of Australian police, who led an investigation that found his organisation dominates the $70 billion-a-year Asia-Pacific drug trade, Dutch police spokesman Thomas Aling said on Saturday.

Tse is expected to be extradited after appearing before a judge, Aling said, adding that his arrest by national police took place without incident at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.

"He was already on the most-wanted list and he was detained based on intelligence we received," Aling said.

Dutch police were unable to provide details about the legal proceedings and it was not clear if Tse had a lawyer.

Tse's crime syndicate allegedly dominates the Asia-Pacific crystal methamphetamine trade, which increased fourfold in the five years to 2019, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

Undermined...

When Hank Aaron and other African  American leaders invited reporters to watch them receive COVID-19 immunization shots on Jan. 5, the baseball legend said he did so to help spread the word to millions that the vaccine is safe.

“It felt good,” Aaron said afterward at the Morehouse School of Medicine, where the event was held.  Now, just over two weeks later, public health experts and some of the Black leaders with Aaron that day worry that an event that drew so much publicity could inadvertently serve to undermine confidence in the vaccine. Within minutes of news breaking Friday morning of the baseball great’s death, those with doubts about the vaccine turned to social media to try to draw a connection to Aaron’s recent immunization.

The politics entered the Medical field with Covid vaccines.  The politicians are not helping the patients, the hospitals or the flow of information. So please get out and keep your comments private.  Just a thought.

Potassium is a mineral that's classified as an electrolyte, because it's highly reactive in water. When it's dissolved in water, potassium produces ions that are positively charged, and its ability to conduct electricity is what makes it an integral part of our body's ability to properly function. Despite our lack of knowledge about potassium, its importance cannot be emphasized enough.

"Potassium helps with many processes in the body, including water regulation in and out of the cells, sending nerve signals, and controlling muscle contractions," explains Amy Shapiro, MS, RD, CDN, and founder of Real Nutrition

"It also has been shown to help decrease high blood pressure, reduce the risk of stroke, and prevent kidney stones and osteoporosis

This is because it helps to prevent calcium from leaching out of the bones."

These foods contain more than 250 milligrams potassium per half-cup serving.

Democratic Reps. Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Cori Bush of Missouri on Friday led a group of 35 lawmakers in urging President Joe Biden to commute the sentences of all federal prisoners on death row.
"We look forward to working with your administration to enact just and restorative policies that will meaningfully transform our criminal legal system for the better. By exercising your clemency power, you can ensure that there would be no one left on death row to kill. Given the historic nature of your administration, this would be an unprecedented -- but necessary -- action to reverse systemic injustices and restore America's moral standing," according to the letter.
There are currently 49 people on federal death row, 21 of whom are White, 20 who are Black, seven who are Latino and one who is Asian.

The Napalm Girl

Two positive psychologists, Martin Seligman (from the University of Pennsylvania) and Christopher Peterson (the VIA Institute on Character's scientific director), who published the handbook Character Strengths and Virtues (the "un-Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders"), describe six "virtues," or core characteristics that are universally valued. These virtues are:

Wisdom: Intellectual strengths that help you gain and use information.

Courage: Strengths of will that help you accomplish goals in the face of fear and internal or external obstacles.

Humanity: Interpersonal strengths that help you befriend others and tend to your relationships.

Justice: Social or civic strengths that help bolster a healthy community.

Temperance: Protective traits that help you avoid excess and stay on track in the face of temptations.

Transcendence: Strengths of meaning that connect you with the larger world and provide meaning.
