NYPD officers attempted to disperse a massive street celebration in Crown Heights on Monday night, prompting indifference and hostility from Orthodox revelers who continued dancing even in the face of police orders.

The stand-off unfolded in the intersection Kingston Avenue and Montgomery Street, where hundreds of Hasidic Brooklynites, many of them unmasked men, had gathered late Monday evening as part of a nightly celebration marking the weeklong Sukkot holiday.

I think the Governor is intruding into the lives of the people of New York for no reason at this time. Infection and positive covid 19 results are up but the hospitalization and death is down.

Just a thought.

Amazon today disclosed that a former employee has been arrested for committing fraud against the online retailer. The company says it reported Vu Anh Nguyen to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in July 2020 for falsely issuing refunds to himself and his associates for products ordered on Amazon.com. The U.S. Dept. of Justice brought charges against Nguyen for federal wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, according to court filings.

Nguyen was previously employed with Amazon as a Selling Support Associate based in Tempe, Arizona. In this role, his job involved providing support for Amazon's third-party sellers and assisting in the creation and management of seller listings using a "Spoofer" account, which allow Amazon employees to view and edit third-party seller accounts.

In the criminal complaint, Nguyen is alleged to have committed wire fraud between November 2019 and February 2020 by using his employee access to falsely and fraudulently issue $96,508.13 in refunds to himself and others. These refunds were not requested by legitimate purchasers. During the course of this scheme, Nguyen used or caused the use of interstate wires, the filing states.

Andy King was accused of pocketing $2,000 in cash from a payout to a third staff member and refusing to pay a $15,000 fine imposed by the City Council.

The councilman, a Democrat from the Bronx, has long been accused of misbehavior, leading to three ethics investigations by the Council. He finally lost his job on Monday.

The Council’s ethics committee found last week that the latest allegations against Mr. King were substantiated and recommended his expulsion.

The vote was 48-2, with one of the no votes cast by Mr. King. Several Council members expressed regret that they had not removed him sooner.
