Egypt's Interior Ministry says security forces have killed seven members of a militant group with suspected links to the now-outlawed Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo shootouts.

The ministry says three militants were killed on a highway known as Ring Road in Cairo's district of Giza while the remaining four were killed in a firefight when police raided their hideout in the Egyptian capital's suburb of Sixth of October.

The ministry says weapons and ammunition were found among the militants' possession. A police officer was wounded.

Egypt, which has been under a state of emergency since April 2017, has been battling Islamic militants for years.

The insurgency gained strength after the 2013 overthrow of elected but divisive Islamist President Mohammed Morsi.

A steady stream of men wandered in and out of the Bridge Day Spa, a massage parlor in a strip mall anchored by a Publix Supermarket and a Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. Police say the men engaged in illicit sexual activity with Chinese masseuses inside the spa, with two or three women reportedly exchanging sexual acts with up to 10 men a day. 

That complex and painstaking – and, to some, controversial – teamwork was at the center of a four-county, seven-month sex trafficking investigation of massage parlors that included hidden cameras, billionaire johns, semen-stained napkins and a $20 million suspected network that stretched from China to New York to Florida. 

More than 10 people connected to the spas have been charged with offenses ranging from racketeering and money laundering to profiting from prostitution.

The body mass index (BMI) uses height and weight to measure body fat. However, for older adults, BMI in some cases can understate body fat.

This leads us to properly considering waist size. 

If the waist size appears more than 35 inches for a woman or 40 inches for a man, a person can be considered obese, according to Rush University Medical Center.   

Even those who are already in their 80s can still develop lean muscle mass and keep body fat down through exercise and healthy diet.

An investigation has been launched after three "small improvised explosives," were discovered after being sent to major transport hubs in London.

The packages were discovered at various locations near three of London's major transport hubs -- Heathrow Airport, City Airport and London Waterloo rail station. Flights to and from the airports were not affected by the incident, and Waterloo rail services are continuing as normal.

One of the devices near Heathrow Airport, "initiate[d]" after staff at the building opened the package. "This resulted in part of the package burning," police said, though nobody was injured in the incident.

Researchers followed more than 500,000 participants between the ages of 40–69 and found the incidence of heart attack was associated with body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, waist-to-hip ratio and waist-to-height ratios.

The greater the waist-to-hip ratio (calculated as waist circumference divided by hip circumference), the higher the heart attack risk in women. For men, a waist circumference over 40 inches poses the greatest risk, compared to 35 inches for women.

Fat in the abdominal cavity is associated with increased risk of high blood sugar, inflammation, elevated triglycerides and lower levels of HDL “good” cholesterol, making it more dangerous than fat stored elsewhere in the body.

Thus, “in two people with the same BMI, the person who has more of an apple shape and stores fat in their abdomen is at higher risk of heart disease than the one who stores their fat elsewhere,” says Michos.

Chinese hackers have targeted more than two dozen universities in the U.S. and around the globe as part of an elaborate scheme to steal research about maritime technology being developed for military use, cybersecurity experts and current and former U.S. officials said.

The research is the latest indication that Chinese cyberattacks to steal U.S. military and economic secrets are on the rise. The .

The majority of the universities targeted either house research hubs focused on undersea technology or have faculty on staff with extensive experience in a relevant field, and nearly all have links to a Massachusetts oceanographic institute that also was likely compromised in the cyber campaign, iDefense said.

Some have been awarded contracts by the Navy. Others, including Sahmyook University in South Korea, appeared to be targeted because of their proximity to China, and relevance to the South China Sea, the analysts said.

Begum resurfaced at a refugee camp in Syria and wants to come home. But her apparent lack of remorse has triggered criticism in Britain and the family has expressed its own shock at her lack of repentance.

She married a Dutch man who wants to take her to the Netherlands with their newborn son. British Home Secretary has revoked Begum's citizenship.  

 Her husband, Yago Riedijk, 27, told the BBC, from a Kurdish-run detention center, that he met Begum within days of her arrival in Syria when she was 15. He said the marriage was "her own choice."

While it's unclear if Begum has committed a crime, her comments — and those of her husband — throw into questions about how Western societies will deal with others who joined IS but want to return back now that the extremist group is on the verge of collapse.

Maryland could become the first state to ban expanded polystyrene food service products.

The measure bans the sale of Styrofoam. It also would prohibit the sale of food in foam cups, plates or egg cartons.

Since expanded polystyrene is 95 percent air, it is not worth the cost of recycling once it is processed and cleaned.

Critics say the measure would harm small farmers who use egg cartons or nonprofits that buy expanded polystyrene in bulk, the outlet noted.

"We're just saying small Maryland businesses can't use these products. But the big, large businesses from outside the state can ship these products into Maryland," Maryland Republican Minority Whip Sen. Stephen Hershey said.

Many large cities, individually, banned these products from use.
