Xi has sold himself as the champion of China’s global interests, to stand up to the West, and restore the country to its former glory. At home, Xi has promised the “Chinese Dream,” a prosperous future with boundless new opportunities.
He must avoid any setbacks inflicted by the west, keep China’s economy growing, generate jobs and raising incomes. His aim at upgrading manufacturing and technology, to reach “Made in China 2025” will be delayed and so is military expansion.
U.S. tariffs will slow China’s economy at a time when it is already slowing and heavily indebted. It also may delay the desire to enhance their military ambition.

Billionaire Ken Langone told CNBC he and his wife, Elaine, are helping give medical students free tuition as a way of sharing the American dream.
New York University announced earlier this month that it will offer free tuition for every student attending its medical school. The co-founder of Home Depot and chair of the board of trustees of the NYU Langone Medical Center, and his wife, donated $100 million to help fund the tuition.
Langone, a businessman and philanthropist, said that in the next 15 years there will be a critical shortage of doctors, particularly in primary care, pediatrics and OB-GYN. Langone added these are areas of medicine that don't pay well but are important.

Authorities in Virginia are looking for a bank robber who tried twice and failed before walking off with cash on his third attempt.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports police were called to the first attempted robbery at a SunTrust bank branch. A man had fled emptyhanded after giving a teller demanding cash. Officers were called to another attempted robbery at a different SunTrust bank about two hours later.
Shortly after that, a teller at a Wells Fargo bank was passed a note demanding cash, and this time the man got what he wanted. Police say no weapons were reported during the robberies and no one was injured.
Gun Control...
Kwame Dottin, 30, got into an argument with the off-duty officer outside the party on East 43rd Street in East Flatbush about 2:40 a.m. Sunday.
Dottin, who is confined to a wheelchair after being shot years ago, allegedly pulled a .380-caliber revolver and fired one shot toward the cop, missing him. The officer returned fire, shooting four rounds and hitting Dottin once in the hip.
Dottin was arrested on charges including attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
