Early Sunday morning, Irma touched down as a Category 4 hurricane in the Florida Keys after many residents declined to obey mandatory evacuation orders that had been issued days prior to landfall.

The system went on to slam the Gulf Coast  as a downgraded tropical storm. Although the storm has long since departed the Keys, some of the islands are so devastated, which is blocking access to those Keys further west.

Florida authorities refuse to allow residents to reenter.  about 10,000 residents (out of a total of 79,000) didn't evacuate as ordered.

The U.S. has watered down a proposal to punish North Korea for its sixth and most powerful nuclear test, omitting an oil embargo and a freeze of Kim Jong Un’s assets that may have hindered passage by the United Nations Security Council.

The U.S., U.K. and France are united on the latest proposal, but not Russia and China , the other veto-holding members of the United Nations Security Council.

Western Countries have strong sanctions on Russia and China is not comfortable with what's happening.

All in all, make sure that the new sanctions would not endanger the poor people suffering in North Korea.

Hype...

Image result for reporting Irma

Some wondered whether it is overly sensational spectacles, where correspondents are struggling to deliver information standing, setting, ducking... in the rain.

The Media starts reporting “Floridians are in a panic”. “Gas shortages are everywhere”. “Food is flying off the shelves”.

Any seasoned Floridian knows there are basic items needed to survive after the storm, while waiting for everything to be made right, roads, power lines, etc..

But the media is more concerned with who and how many watching the news. The sensational, quick talk, focus on certain parts of the reporting cause widespread panic than actually providing helpful information.

No wonder some would say I am not going anywhere during the storm. Seen it before.

The End...

 Image result for Irma

Rush Limbaugh's claim that the media is manufacturing unwarranted panic about Hurricane Irma as part of a plot to hype climate change, boost ratings and increase advertising revenue from businesses that stand to make money off purchases of batteries and bottled water.

“I explained how severe weather events are opportunities for big ratings boosts ”. “I explained how severe weather events impact retailers and how some retailers are smart enough to coordinate advertising with television stations.”

The Media has 24 hours to fill. It is the End of the world.
The Storm moved from Category 5 to Category 2,  yet the drums of Doom's day continue.
No wonder those who wanted to ride the storm, really just don't trust the News.
