Five alleged terrorists were killed in a shootout with police in Spain's Catalonia region early Friday following deadly attacks there that killed at least 14 people and injured more than 100 others, according to Spanish authorities.

Catalan police said the alleged terrorists, who wore fake suicide vests and were armed with knives, were killed in the coastal town of Cambrils early Friday after striking pedestrians and police there with an Audi A3. Four people, including a police officer, were injured in the vehicle-ramming attack and one civilian, a woman, was killed, according to Catalonia's emergency services.

Catalan police released a notice on Friday saying they are searching for four individuals in connection to the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils. The wanted individuals were identified as ......

Thirteen people died and dozens were injured when a van ploughed into crowds in Barcelona's famous Las Ramblas area, Catalan police and local officials say.

The rented vehicle sped along the pedestrian area that is popular with tourists, mowing down people and sending others fleeing for cover.

Two people have been arrested, but police say neither was the driver, who fled on foot.

The authorities also say an explosion on Wednesday evening at a house outside Barcelona that left one person dead was connected to the Las Ramblas attack.

Dozens of gas cylinders were found at the house in the town of Alcanar, about 100km (62 miles) south west of Barcelona, and Reuters quoted a police source as saying residents were preparing explosives.

In another incident, police shot dead a man who drove into officers at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Barcelona, but the authorities said there was no evidence that he was connected to the attack in Las Ramblas.

An Iowa woman charged with attempting to vote twice for Donald Trump last fall has been sentenced to two years of probation and a $750 fine.    The felony election misconduct conviction will be expunged from Terri Lynn Rote's record once she completes probation and pays the fine. 
Rote, who is 56, pleaded guilty last month.

Rote, a Trump supporter, was arrested Oct. 21 after showing up at a Des Moines early voting site to cast a second ballot for Trump in the Nov. 8 election. She told police she believed Trump's claims that the election was rigged and she feared her first ballot would be changed to a vote for Hillary Clinton.

A suspected car thief  has died after leading police on a chase that ended with a standoff when the man climbed a crane at the Port of Los Angeles, The man eventually took off all his clothes. CBS Los Angeles report.

During the standoff, the man was seen walking around, waving, twitching and even doing calisthenics on the narrow ledge of the crane. A SWAT team eventually approached the man and tried to coax him down to safety.
The man either fell or jumped to his death, landing on a ship, police said.
