Exodus..

Over the weekend, Partnership for NYC CEO Steven Fulop warned that Wall Street firms — the city’s cash cows — are increasingly eyeing the exits to escape Mamdani’s “tax the rich” crusade.

JPMorgan Chase chief Jamie Dimon sounded similar alarms, noting that New York’s steep taxes and red tape have sparked a “large exodus” of businesses out of the city.
Wall Street powerhouse Apollo Global Management’s plans to locate a second US headquarters outside NYC is the latest example.
And all this on top of a new Bureau of Labor Statistics employer survey that flags the loss of 20,000 Big Apple jobs in 2025, even though the state and city comptrollers had both expected an increase of 40,000.
Following the 2020 Census, New York lost one seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, bringing its delegation down from 27 to 26. Florida gained one seat, increasing its delegation to 28.

Idea..

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) has slammed President Donald Trump‘s new Department of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin for floating the idea to remove Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officers from sanctuary airports across the U.S.

Mullin, in an interview with Fox News on Monday, shared that the DHS wanted to work with cities that were willing to cooperate with the administration when asked if sanctuary cities could lose customs. “I’m gonna have to be forced to make hard decisions,” Mullin said, accusing the Democrats of wanting to defund the CBP.

A sanctuary city is a municipality that limits its cooperation with the federal/national governments to enforce the country’s immigration laws. Sanctuary cities in the U.S. include Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, San Francisco and more.

On Monday, Newsom’s official Press Office handle delivered sharp criticism of Mullin in a post on X. “If you thought the economy was bad with Trump's war driving prices at the pump up,” the post said, “just wait until international travel is halted at some of the busiest airports in the world,” the press office said in the post, slamming the Trump administration for Mullin’s comments. “Talk about a stupid idea,” it said.

Socrates..

Socrates famously advised, "By all means, marry. If you get a good wife, you'll become happy; if you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher".

He argued that regardless of the choice—marriage or celibacy—one will eventually experience regret, framing it as a choice between marital bliss or the wisdom gained through hardship.
The core message is that all major life decisions carry inherent compromises and regrets, often leading to questioning the path not taken.
  •  A Reddit post highlights that marriage brings either personal happiness (a good partner) or philosophical wisdom through enduring a difficult situation, as argued by a Quora user and another user.
  • This advice is often cited as a humorous take on the existential dilemmas of life and the inevitability of regret, sometimes confused with Søren Kierkegaard's writings on similar themes, notes a Reddit thread.

Lost Twice..

Some Democrats are mulling whether the party’s best chance at winning back the White House is to pick a “straight, white Christian man” in 2028 for the top of the ticket.

Having lost twice to Donald Trump with female candidates for president, Democratic strategists have echoed concerns voiced last year by former first lady Michelle Obama: America “is not ready for a woman.”

Behind closed doors, several Democratic strategists have bluntly said some form of, “It has to be a white guy,” according to Axios.

There is a fear — and I actually don't think this is just a grass-tops fear, I think you'd hear it from voters, too — that a woman has now lost twice,” an unnamed Democratic strategist told the outlet. “So not discounting the hundreds of other times men have lost … but is it the right thing to nominate a woman?”

Former first lady Hillary Clinton lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election, though she won the popular vote, and former Vice President Kamala Harris was defeated by the Republican in 2024.
