أسيوط

 Making a difference.

#MonthlyPicks | What Does an Egyptian Immigrant Love about

Suad Khalil grew up along the Nile River in Asyut, Egypt, but she’s been happily ensconced in Kew Gardens for several decades. The retiree keeps busy by leading exercise classes at The Church-in-the-Gardens and the Kew Gardens Community Center, where she’s also a champion ping pong player.

Poor/Rich..

“A poor man is not the one without a cent. A poor man is the one without a dream.”

The quote explains that true poverty is not defined by a lack of money, but by a lack of ambition, dreams, or purpose. It highlights that financial poverty is temporary, but a mindset without hope or vision prevents progress, making a person poor regardless of their wealth.
  • A person with no money can still be rich in spirit, ambition, and happiness, while someone with money but no goals is impoverished.
  •  A dream provides direction, innovation, and motivation to change circumstances. Without a vision, a person is stuck.
  •  It suggests that the difference between the rich and poor is not always capital, but the determination to create, act, and plan.

Dual-Task..

Dual-task exercise is an innovative therapeutic approach that combines a physical task (such as walking, balancing, or strength training) with a simultaneous cognitive task (such as counting backward, naming animals, talking, or solving puzzles).
Because Alzheimer's disease progressively impairs both cognitive and motor networks, dual-task performance significantly decreases in affected individuals. Research into using dual-task training as an intervention for Alzheimer's disease and related cognitive decline shows promising benefits and specific clinical applications:
  •  Individuals with dementia often struggle to split their attention between walking and a secondary task, which frequently leads to trips and falls. Studies show that dual-task training reduces "dual-task cost"—meaning patients retain better walking speeds, stride control, and balance while distracted, making daily ambulation safer.
