A Russian drone spotted the wheeled HIMARS and its trailing support vehicles next to a treeline in Nykanorivka, in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast around 25 miles from the front line.
A missile launched, hypersonic Iskander—struck near the HIMARS, setting ablaze the 17-ton launcher and apparently cooking off one of its 227-millimeter M30/31 rockets.
The 27th Rocket Artillery Brigade, the Ukrainian army’s sole HIMARS unit, normally operates at dawn or dusk and keeps it vehicles moving and under cover when they’re not on a fire-mission.
In any event, it’s a hard loss for the Ukrainian army. It seems the combination of a far-flying reconnaissance drone and a fast-acting Iskander battery finally got the better of the Ukrainian 27th Brigade.
Comment: Who are we kidding here? Ukraine should stay neutral, the American should stop providing free lunch to establish NATO base in Ukraine, circling the Russians as they did before in the Sixties. Just a thought.
