Dance..

Great powers, especially the Americans, believe prestige and “strategic power,” in other words a pissing match, is worth sending other people’s kids to die for.

This is a fight between the oligarchs on all sides. They will all find ways to make money out of the tension, even if they are playing with nuclear fire.  [Paul Jay.. theAnalysis.news]

Enrichment...

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed all officials in charge of regional military recruitment centers amid a widespread corruption scandal.

A scandal linked to the procurement of war-time supplies had already led to Zelensky firing a slew of senior Ukrainian officials at the start of the year, and prompted Ukraine’s deputy defense minister Viacheslav Shapovalov to resign after allegations of corruption surfaced in the media.

Among the issues, Zelensky cited “iIllicit enrichment, legalization of illegally obtained funds, unlawful benefit, illegal transportation of persons liable for military service across the border.”

He said the decision was to “dismiss all regional ‘military commissioners.’ This system should be managed by people who know exactly what war is and why cynicism and bribery in time of war are high treason.

Yacht..

Suleiman Kerimov’s luxury vessel Amadea was in the news for so much action that it was hard to keep up. That was a year ago. Since being impounded in San Diego, all the action was put to rest with nearly no news of the once glorious $325 million megayacht. But this is Amadea we are talking about, a pleasure craft so splendid it makes news for not making news. The ship was spotted aimlessly cruising around San Diego Bay which sounds unalarming, but one cannot ignore the 348-footer is doing so on American taxpayer’s money.

Ever since its seizure in May 2022, the American taxpayers splurged a whopping $110,000 daily, bringing the total of an enormous $13 million so far in just maintaining the Russian billionaire’s asset.

This is also a crucial reason why the US hasn’t put up the vessel for auction, as they still need more information to pin billionaire Kerimov as the actual owner of the boat. Amadea motoryacht arrived in San Diego in June of last year. It’s been docked off Pepper Park in National City ever since.

Why do we do this to ourselves??

Sharper..

Exercise has a long-standing connection to a sharper mind, especially among older individuals.

Now, however, new research out of Japan is showcasing just how easily older adults can reap the cognitive rewards of staying active.

Scientists at the University of Tsukuba found that people’s cognition and brain efficiency improved after just three months of mild exercise sessions three times a week.

This time around, researchers built upon prior investigations already conducted at the University of Tsukuba and the University of California-Irvine, that had found even brief sessions of mild exercise, such as walking and yoga, appear capable of stimulating the brain and producing temporary improvements in cognitive performance.

Extraordinary..

After spending a half-decade investigating Hunter Biden, the U.S. Department of Justice has now decided that it needs a special counsel to finish the job.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced Friday that he would name David Weiss, the U.S. Attorney for Delaware, as the special counsel for the prosecution of President Biden’s only surviving son after Weiss requested the appointment and in light of what Garland termed to be the “extraordinary circumstances” of the case which made such an appointment to be in the public interest.

To war we go.

The potential for a confrontation between the United States and Iran may lead to a heightened level of tension in the Middle East.

The ongoing geopolitical tension in global politics and Iran’s axis and support for Russia in the Russia-Ukraine war have further worsened US-Iran relations.

The intensification of Iranian missile attacks targeting the significant presence of around seventy thousand U.S. military deployments in the Middle East has questioned the stability and peace in the region.

The US placed sanctions on the Russian energy for over a year. Russia produces 20% of world energy and that was ok.

But then that caused higher gas prices, Inflation and high food prices. So to maintain the current status the new deployment of military to the Middle East basically a threat to some countries in the region.

Sense..

I speak of peace because of the new face of war. Total war makes no sense in an age where great powers can maintain large and relatively invulnerable nuclear forces and refuse to surrender without resort to those forces.

It makes no sense in an age where a single nuclear weapon contains almost 10 times the explosive force delivered by all the allied air forces in the Second World War.

It makes no sense in an age when the deadly poisons produced by a nuclear exchange would be carried by wind and water and soil and seed to the far corners of the globe and to generations yet unborn.  Just a thought.
