Fit..

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday updated its guidance on masks for the general public, now saying that people "may choose" to wear N95 and KN95 masks because they offer the best protection against Covid-19.

But the agency stopped short of saying that people should opt for certain masks instead of others, saying that the "CDC continues to recommend that you wear the most protective mask you can that fits well and that you will wear consistently."

He said it should be easy for most people to find comfortable "N95-caliber" masks so they can wear them in high-risk indoor settings, such as crowded shops, Buses, Subway System, work places, and hospitals

Sugar ..

When the first wave of Covid hit the U.S., it became clear that the majority of patients being placed on ventilators had a series of underlying conditions. Among those were metabolic disorders like obesity and diabetes.

Why does diabetes make it harder to fight a respiratory virus?

First, SARS-CoV-2 virus can make blood sugar control worse in the short term and can potentially throw people with diabetes into a very dangerous blood sugar state. It does this by binding itself to the receptors found on the beta cells of the pancreas, which produce insulin.

Having diabetes means you're in a chronic low-grade inflammatory state, which taxes the body's innate immune system and makes it slower to jump on pathogens when they enter the body.

When it comes to our immune system, what we eat matters a lot. And no ingredient is more detrimental to your immune health than sugar, especially during Covid.

Just a "sweet" thought.

Fool's Errand..

The Biden White House is promoting tougher anti-monopoly laws to curb U.S. inflation and ease public criticism, but it’s a fool’s errand.

“The emerging claim that antitrust can combat inflation reflects ‘science denial,’ ” tweeted Harvard economist Lawrence Summers, a senior official in the Obama and Clinton administrations. “There are many areas like transitory inflation where serious economists differ. Antitrust as an anti-inflation strategy is not one of them.

Prices rose an average of less than 2% a year from 2010 to 2019. The Federal Reserve actually worried more about the inflation rate becoming too low instead of the other way around.

“There is no basis whatsoever thinking that monopoly power has increased during the past year in which inflation has greatly accelerated,” Summers tweeted.

Who is making the decisions in this White House administration?

Are these decisions made just to avoid doing work for the American People?

This administration couldn't possibly be making these decisions in such a haze state unless they do it deliberately.  Just a thought.

Dilemma..

As Covid-19 vaccine makers prepare Omicron-specific shots, federal health authorities say there are signs they might not be necessary.

Research is continuing, however, and industry and global-health officials say doses targeting the highly transmissible new variant might be needed longer-term, especially if it winds up crowding out earlier strains globally.

Differing opinions on the need for Omicron-targeted shots highlights the persisting uncertainty around current vaccines’ relative efficacy against the variant weeks after it began sweeping the U.S.

Researchers designed the existing Covid-19 shots to fight the original coronavirus strain that predominated in 2020. Since then, the vaccines have remained effective against newer variants like Delta that have emerged and overtaken the initial strain. But then came the Omicron... right on its own methodology.

Recognize..

We are very much thankful for this current President, Joe Bidens, for in such a short period of time, less than a year in the office, bringing inflation from back then President Carter's time. Just a thought.
