A French court has slapped a fraud sentence on the Church of Scientology, saying it targets vulnerable people for commercial gain.

The ruling is a major setback for Scientologists in France, and it marks the first time that the Church of Scientology has been convicted of organized fraud.

The development puts its famous recruitment methods under a spotlight.

Scientologists vehemently reject the conviction, saying that they are the victims of anti-cult organizations trying to destroy them.

An appeals court upheld a conviction against the Scientology organization for organized fraud, assessing a $530,000 fine to the Scientology Celebrity Centre in Paris and a $265,000 fine to its bookstore.

• Become informed about the impact of psychological wounds: Seek information and support that is relevant to your experience.

The FBI's former deputy director Andrew McCabe reveals that top Justice Department officials seriously considered trying to remove Trump from office.

There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the cabinet could be brought together to invoke the 25th Amendment, for removing presidents on grounds of incapacity.

Attorney General Bill Barr startled Senators when he said that he believed that “spying did occur” during the 2016 presidential race, and that “spying on a political campaign is a big deal." 

Did high ranking officials abuse their power to spy on Donald Trump for political reasons?

A clarification of US policy is considered necessary in order to build an international consensus condemning the attack on Tripoli in which 300 people have been killed and more than 1,000 injured – including migrants trapped in detention centres.

Haftar is seen by Britain and the UN as the immediate aggressor in the conflict. A telephone call between Trump and Haftar said the US president “recognised Field Marshal Haftar’s significant role in fighting terrorism and securing Libya’s oil resources”.

With the conflict showing signs of extending beyond Tripoli, and both sides seeking armed reinforcements, it is thought only a unified internationally backed call for restraint will prevent the country descending into a prolonged civil war.

Obama/ Hillary started the war in Libya, and since then, the killing, chaos, and  lawlessness took over. EU is attempting to manage the migrants flood to their shores by blocking them right in Libya, and using various militia to patrol the shores with this outcome.

The story of the 2020 election polling so far is how little the polling has changed. Here is the latest national primary survey from Quinnipiac, released:

• Joe Biden: 29 percent
• Bernie Sanders: 19 percent
• Beto O’Rourke: 12 percent
• Kamala Harris: 8 percent
• Elizabeth Warren: 4 percent
• Pete Buttigieg: 4 percent
• Cory Booker: 2 percent
• Amy Klobuchar: 2 percent
• Julian Castro: 1 percent
• John Hickenlooper: 1 percent

The big news out of this poll is that South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is hitting a new polling high of ... 4 percent. That should tell you how monotonous the Democratic primary polling has really been.

Still there is an opportunity for the mayor of New York City to enter the race. He will be out of job in three years and he successfully destroyed the quality of life in NY. Subway system, buses, overbuilding, congestion everywhere, wasteful response to Sandy, NYSHA... Let us see how he sells his failure as successes.

Overtime pay at the agency running New York City's transit is going off the rails. As the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is railroaded by stalled schedules, busted budgets and a fare hike for riders, the agency paid its workers $418 million in overtime last year  including more than $344,000 for a single employee.


A database of employee pay shows that, with overtime, 20 workers earned more last year than Andy Byford, who oversees the entire New York City Transit Authority. Thomas Caputo, chief measurement operator for the LIRR, received $344,146.93 in overtime on top of his $117,499 salary, bringing his total compensation to $461,646.

Governor Cuomo wants to pour additional money into the agency by taxing the little people. No mention to focusing on efficiency or clean out the corruption, tax and wasteful spending. Just a thought.
